A Chant for Each Month

 

December

The old solar year and the Holy-King dies, the Oak King is born where the old king lies.

January

Bid the past farewell and never mourn, and recieve the year that has just been born.

February

Welcome spring and release the old, now is the time for banishing cold.

March

Feel the shift of the great balance, to kindness and good from evil and malice.

April

With every growing thing we see, we realize fertility comes to thee.

May

The time of the sacred marriage is hear, for the God and Goddess we rejoice and cheer.

June

Here comes the Sun, may the altar bells ring, for the Holy-King replaces the Oak King.

July

Fall is here, with harvest we consumate, it is time to give thanks and celebrate.

August

John Barlycorn must die, so that our harvests may reach the sky

September

The cycle of growth turns and bends, and in this month it is coming to its end.

October

The Lady steps aside, moving her glorious light, so that the Horned one may bring his darkness and might,

November

The wheel of the year draws nigh to an end, in the darkness we must fend.
