Here the ground is covered with little snow, and dried grass is the most prominent plant that is visible.
One tree breaks the monotony of the landscape here, lone soldier in the midst of barren landscape. The sky is grey, day and night, and the duotone of grey and brown lends to a rather drab scene. The still, calm waters of the lake that lap imperceptibly at the shore reflect this scene palely, as if another, even less colourful world lay below.
To the north, you can see the beaches run on, and the lake curves around to run to the west. The water here is frozen, and you might be able to step out onto it....
So... You test the ice, then step out upon it.
The ice is slippery, but the dust of snow that is scattered lightly over its surface allows some grip. It takes a moment to get your footing, but soon you've got the hang of moving across the ice. Looking around, you get an urge to race across the surface to see what happens.
To the west is the frozen lakeshore, which stretches around to the south as well. The frozen surface of the water extends farther toward the lake's center, perhaps there is something else to do there.
You grin slightly to yourself, then suddenly take off over the ice, then slide across it wildly, spinning and twirling until you come to a stop. Hey, this is fun!
Suddenly, however, there is a loud *CRACK* as the ice splits.
You find youself falling through and into the freezing, icy water beneath! The icy water swirls around you, bubbles of air racing to the surface as you struggle with the water threatening to pull you down. You can't breath very well, and you are getting extremely cold....
You try to get ahold on something solid, groping wildly until you find footing.... Finally, you manage to push yourself out of the water! As quick as possible, you move away from this slippery ice and head back to the western shore, shivering uncontrollably and gasping for breath.
You sigh deeply in releif at reaching the shore, where the snow actually seems a *lot* warmer, though there's probably still permafrost... Dried grass is still more visible than snow, and there's a little more trees over here...
To the south a little bit there's some tall cliff faces that seem to break off the tundra and turn into the Ferro Mountain range, while to the west further you see the Labyrinth forest starting up again...
Suddenly, something large, canis lupis-like, and patchy- calico furred walks past you, not particularly paying attention to you.
You blink, feeling extremely unwelcome. Suddenly, the large adult T'reithi seems to notice you. :Oh. Hi.: He continues walking, then looks back at you, smirking in a smug way. :You going to stand there and freeze? Or follow me?: He keeps going once more, so.... You stand up and follow.
After a while of walking, and the same, dreary landscape consisting of only permafrost land, the Kare'kere leads you to a steep cliff wall. He looks about, then pushes aside a leather tarp and allows you to enter the spacey cave.
The first few rooms he leads you through look like typical wolf caves, alpha's den, ETC, then he leads you to a small back room, *Filled* with books. You look at one, titled 'Plato's lost dialogue', hmm, these must be *OLD*.... He promptly settles down next to a pile of old maps and begins studying one, ignoring you. After a few minutes of examining books, you wander over to Lane, looking over his shoulder. He's currently reading a book- A Hand-written book... Titled '1001 ways to take over the world', by some author named 'Chibi-Coyol'.... How odd...
He looks over his shoulder at you, greatly annoyed. You blink. :I suppose you want to know more about this place, then? Hm. Very well:, he says, :This is called Kaskazi Tundra, and these are the tunnels to the heart of the Isle. The T'reithi live here, as does the guardian of the tundra, Azriel. I, myself am Giridih'Lane. First son of Gliaven'Eird and Chisan'Kith.: He smirks. :Are you happy now? Then, if so, please leave. I have.... Planning to do.: He goes back to reading, and, getting an uneasy feeling about this particular T'reithi, you wander away....
