Kaskazi Tundra is absolutely silent, save for the moaning of the wind as it thrums through the chilly air and nips at your cheeks and feathers. In fact it is so quiet that you fancy that you can even hear the shiver of water as it coagulates into solid, into the thick opaqueness of ice that covers the lake. You put your foot out and gently press your weight upon some ice near the banks, and hastily retract it when the ice groans and splinters into pieces. Nuh-uh, it won't be right to step on these thin pieces now....
There is a sound, making you look up, and to your immense astonishment, see a little equine hopping nimbly over the ice itself! It moves so fast that it seems not to touch the ice, which doesn't even show signs of cracking under its weight. You stare in completely wonder: how could a creature be so light?
"Oi gryphon!" it calls cheerily to you, from the relative safety of its position, far over the water. "Heh, what a surprise to meet you. I'm Tartin, and I'm a Nunivik Mirkotto. Aren't I skillful? No one else -- maybe perhaps Emeraldice~chill, can walk over the lake! Hehehe, I'm walking on water!" he trills in laughter, and gazes at you from beneath his forelock, eyes sparkling mischieviously. "And you can't catch me. Nyaaahh! Seeya later, gryphon!"
With that, Tartin turns and skips off across the lake, singing a ditty to himself. You watch him prance off, before turning away.
