    What are quest items?
Aardwolf quest items are the most powerful items in the game, bought with quest points.
I will not explain questing or global questing here.

What should I know about them?
  • See help aarditems for their stats.
  • There are 3 main points when buying them:
      1)Don't buy useless items, ever.
2)Buy items with fixed stats at low levels.
3)Buy level based items later, at key levels (usually at multiples of 10).
  • "q buy regen" to buy the regen ring. Don't buy the invis ring by mistake! :P

What are the most useful items?
    At low levels (Non-level based)
    Item
    QPs
    Why?
Ring of Regeneration1000+12/+12. Useful until lvl 150.
Aura of Sanctuary2500Halves damage. Esp good for war/thief/mage/ranger.
Boots of Speed1300Haste. +10/+10. Extra attack for mage/cleric.
    - Buy these as low as possible - at Level 1 is best.

    At higher levels
    Item
    QPs
    Why?
Weapons1000HR/DR/Dmg. Good for warrior types. Get your first at 80.
Breastplate of Magic Resist2000HR/DR/Stats. Esp if your race doesn't have Magic resist.
Bracers of Iron Grip1750HR/DR. Arm eq. Nice for those without power grip
    - Stats depend on the level they are bought at.
    - The stats do NOT change as you level.

    Other nice items
    Item
    QPs
    Why?
Gloves of Dexterity2250Pretty expensive, but nice Hr/Dr/hp/mana/moves.
Helm of True Sight1100Non-level based. +8/+8 is so-so, nice for those without vision spells.
Wings of Aard800Only useful for levelling, and also for flying. Get it at level 1.
Aard Amulet750Useful only as a portal and shortcut. Get it at level 1.
    - These are useful if you have extra qp, or to get at the start of your 2nd class.

What are the most useless items?
    Item
    QPs
    Why?
    Ring of Invisibility500Cheap, but useless.
Decanter550The Watchmen/Crusaders one is cheaper, and nearly endless!
Nohunger, Nothirst3000Ridiculously expensive, and equally useless.
30 Practices250Only if you have everything else already. :P
    - These are useful if you have extra qp, or to get at the start of your 2nd class.

I am level XXX. What should I get?
Now we get past the crap above and get down to business. This depends on how much you quest.
Personally, I wouldn't NOEXP for too long just to get a quest item.
    To use these tables:
    (1)Find your level. [1-10] [11-99] [100-149] [150-201] [Remorting]
(2)Buy the items from top to bottom, until you run out of qp.
(3)Carry on levelling. Don't go back to buy items you missed in the previous tables.

    At level 1-10 (For supernewbies/remorts)
    QPsItemAffect
    1000Regen Ring+12/+12 Healing
    1300Boots of Speed+10/+10 Hp75 Dex3 Haste
    2500Aura of SanctuaryHp100 Mv200 Mn50 Dex3 Sanc
    10002nd Regen Ring+12/+12
    1100Helm of True Sight+8/+8 Hp45 True seeing
    1000Wings of AardDex3 Wis2 Con2 Flying
    2000BreastplateHp/Mv/Mn125 Stats+2 Resist_Magic
    - Don't get depressed if you didn't get all the above at level 1 - almost nobody does!
    - To get the first 3 is already a very remarkable achievement! (I didn't get ANY! :)

    Level 11-99
    QPsItem
    1000Aardweapon at level 80
2000Save at least 2000 QPs for level 100, the more the merrier
2250Gloves, if you have extra QPs and don't have Dual Wield
1100+Boots or Helm below level 50 is still worth it.

    Level 100-149
    QPsItem
2000Breastplate (+20/+20 good until 190). If already magic resistant, get the next 2 first.
    1750Bracers of Iron Grip. +20/+20.
2250Gloves, if you haven't got a set yet. Otherwise save your qp.
1000Another weapon at 120 or 130, esp if a warrior type. Shocking bite is nice.

    Level 150-201
    QPsItem
    2000+Breastplate/Bracers/Gloves at 150 if you didn't get all 3 by 100.
1000Don't forget you need 1000 qp to Superhero! Questing at 200 is NOT fun.
1000Another weapon at 160 or 170 should see you through to 200.
5000+Save the rest of your qp to buy level 1 stuff next mort. 5000 is barely enough!
    - Don't blow your QPs on lvl 180+ stuff, though levelling is hard after 180.
    - This is because you shouldn't be staying at SH first mort, and you will lose QPs at Rauction.
    - It is also hard to find someone who will stay at 180+ for long to hold it while you remort.

How much QPs should I expect when I Rauction?
    Expected
    QPs
    Item on Rauction
    95-105%Level 1 items
    75-90%Nice weapons (eg: #80,120,150,200,Vorpal flag)
    70-85%Standard eq (eg: #100 BP/Gloves/Bracers)
20-50%Eq at unusual level (eg: #200 regen ring, #79 weapon)
< 40%Unwanted eq (eg: Invis rings, Decanters)
See AboveWhat to buy after I remort? See the level 1 table above.
    - Rauction at a busy time, and announce it on Forsale/Barter. (See page on Remorting)
    - Ask yourself: Would *I* buy this item I'm selling? If so, expect a good price. If not... :P
    - On the other hand, you may not get a good price, but it might be even more useless keeping it!
    - Consider keeping your low level items with a trusted friend, instead rauctioning them.
      - Warning: There will be NO refunds/guarantees if it gets lost this way.

Can I plan my Quest Shopping list for my entire mort?
Sure, but you'll probably make changes along the way as you become more experienced.
This method requires you estimate how many quests you will complete each level.
Note the phrase "complete". Don't overestimate - you'll only disappoint yourself.

  • This plan allows you to save as much qp for your next remort as possible, while still getting the maximum value for the qp you spend.
  • Weapons are chosen as they have the most bang for your buck, and get a better resale value on Rauction.
  • This is a good plan for the quick leveller (2 hours/level), or for those who don't explore much and fail a fair number of quests.

  • Compared to the 9k plan, this gets you a nice item at levels 50 and 150, and saves up a decent amount of qp for remort.
  • 4250 qp is the minimum you want to remort with: This will get an Amulet, Aura of Sanc, and a Regen Ring.
  • Keep the 1st regen ring & boots(if any), and hope to make 2000qp at rauction, which will get you a Helm and Wings as well.

  • Levelling time: 3-4 hours per level.

  • This plan will probably require a stint of NOEXP, preferably earlier on, before level 20.
  • Levelling time: 5 hrs/level (quite slow).

  • Despite the great increase in levelling time, you don't get much more with this:
    - Boots, Bag, Shield, and an extra weapon.
  • If you don't have enough qp to get the helm before 30, forget it and get a 2nd BP at 150 instead.
  • The shield is nice for warriors to increase the weight and spunch with.

  • The remort plan is similar to the 15k plan, but you can now get a complete set of level 1 eq:
    - 2 regen rings, an aura of sanc, the boots, helm, wings and amulet. [8450qp]
    - If you have QP left over after remorting, pick up a breastplate.

  • Should I buy things from rauction?
Yes, if a good item comes along. Most times, you can get a decent item for less than the original price. The main problem is that the item is usually out of your saving range, at an awkward level or has a funny weapon type or damtype.
You can check the expected resale price on this table above.
    Rauction Tips
  • Always type "RBID" to see the stats: An "Axe" might actually be a sword, or it might have keepflags or vorpal flags added.
  • Don't get carried away raising the bid.
  • The only channels the Remorter has is: Ftalk, Immtalk. Also check Barter board.
  • If you accidentally bid a huge amount, and the Auctioner is willing, an imm can refund QPs.
  • Bid 481 on every weapon you see - you can resell it for 500 QP and make a 19 QP profit. :P
  • Bags are now level based: A level 201 Bag on auction will become your level after you buy it.
    RBidding on Level 1 items
  • These are the only items you should pay more than cost price (other than ones with new flags).
  • This is because you can use this item both THIS mort and next. Logically therefore, you will pay above cost only if (1)You don't have it yet (2)It will be useful at your current level.
  • Good low level items include: Aura Sanc, Boots, Regen Ring. Helm and Wings are also ok. Don't pay above cost for level based items you won't be using at your current level eg: Breastplate, Weapons.
  • Most people have a psychological barrier to going above cost. Bidding Cost-19 or Cost tends to knock out a number of bidders.
  • Once again, don't get carried away. 10% or 100QPs above cost is usually too much. You can always do without it this mort and get it next mort.
  • On the other hand, don't expect all level 1 items you auction to fetch cost or above cost price.
