Secret places to put your clan hall
Introduction
The clan entrance is the contact point with the outside world.
Raiders, Defenders, and customers will be entering by this spot.
-Closed clans will therefore want a very secret, inaccessible location.
-But open clans (like Bard) will want a convenient location.
Rules
Main rule: The entrance must be: "A place a level 15 can walk to". [Claire]
Additional rules:
(1)Be within an area that is both accessible to a level 15 and
under, and within that area be accessible to a level 15 and under. [Citron]
(2)Not fall within 'special' areas of the game: laser zone, warzone
combat maze, etc. [Citron]
(3)Not be in a locked room. [Citron]
Under the new rules, the cost increases each time you move the hall.
Concepts
The ideal room, in order of priority, is:
-In an ungateable room(s) (eg Norecall, Prison) flag.
-In a maze, or past a maze with no other way around.
-In an air sector (which makes it harder to mark with objects).(eg. Aarakocran)
-Not along a linear corridor, but in a bunch of same-named rooms.
-Flagged Nopet (which makes it harder to place a gate mob).
-PK flagged.
-Far from heavily trafficked areas (eg. Midgaard may meet the above, but... ;)
Unfortunately, such a room doesn't exist, at least not one a level 15 can get to.
Involve psychology and reverse psychology - some locations below are great...
... but these are the very same places we will start searching. :P
Moving must NOT be the ONLY item in your defense arsenal
- It can only be a delaying tactic while you add guards, improve the maze, etc.
- Especially now that each move will cost you more and more.
- Expect to be found within a week - earlier if you have lots of eager enemies. ;)
Don't consult the 5-classers or 2-tier raiders... ask the supernewbies or helpers instead!
So where should I choose then?
This depends on why you are moving:
If you have a lot of eq, no guards, and no hope of a defense in the near future:
* Pick a room in an ungateable maze room. A secret location is less important.
If you have a fair amount of eq, some guards, and are moving as a delaying tactic:
* Find a secret spot that will take time to find.
If you have no eq and lots of guards:
* Why bother to move? Why would anyone invade? :P

Before you start rushing to put your clan hall in the above...
Almost every place above has been used, and will be amongst the first we search.
The main advantage is that newbie raiders (ie DoHboys) can't just run in with a SW.
Other nasty areas
Rarely visited | Huge messy areas | Uniform rooms |
Arachnos(2nd part)
Highlands
Juargan
Miden'nir
Plains of the North
|
Hoan Dor
Moria
aNew Thalos
Sewers
Underdark
White Lotus
|
Rivers, Streams and Creeks
Market Road
|
Most of the areas above are huge, messy and a pain to map.
Too bad for you, I've mapped them all (How else would I know what a mess they are? ;)
On the other hand, I don't look forward to having to go through them again. :P
The ultimate rooms :P
Rooms that are so great, they should be illegal :P |
Combat Maze | No :) Clan entrance must be located in a regular area. So no
combat maze or warzone, etc.
|
Port, Holy Staff room | No :) While it is allowable for the entrance to be in Port, you
cannot have an entrance in a locked room.
|
a certain type of room | Pay me $1,000,000 new mud money. Effectively uninvadable, but no guarantees it'll be accepted. :P

Searching for clan halls
Key point: Be systematic.
Have one person in charge, to assign out the various low level areas.
Have an alias to open doors in the 6 directions, and use "Exit".
- Remember: Not all clan rooms are marked in Red.
- You can safely try going that way, just don't type "invade", to see if it's a clanhall.
- Drop mushrooms or 1 gold to mark which rooms you have covered. Difficult for air sectors.
Get bored supernewbies to help you.
