Little sweet tips to spice up your raid

Practicing
  • There is no substitute for experience
  • Practice by 'raiding' an 'practice' clan, such as:
      Pyre : Simple maze, no guards, nice eq
      Doh : Simple maze, guards, potions only
      (As at time of writing anyway ;)

    Pre-raid
  • This bears repeating: Never never never bring anything you can't bear to lose
      - Even the 4 TP for a corpse retrieval will only get your aarditems. (July 00)
  • Turn off: autoassist, nopretitle, autosac, and sneak.
  • Cursing your main weapon so won't be disarmed, but this also prevents you from changing it.
  • Tanks should wear a shield to minimize damage taken.
  • Burn-proof bags will keep your potions from frying, but also introduces some lag.
  • Don't assemble outside the target hall like a bunch of castrated sheep.
      -Suicide quietly - kill yourself while invis
      -Suicide as late as possible, or create a corpse a few hours before and logoff
      -Don't hang around after getting grouped, go back to your manor or something.
  • Have a common color/code in your titles so you recognise defenders easily.

    Invading
  • Tank invades first, 2nd-highest hp invades last, so the guards will attack him if tank dies.
  • Antimagic prevents breath-attacks from drawing you into combat.
  • If you have a choice, die to a player, which removes the (Raider) flag.
  • By the way, there are only 2 ways to get a raider flag:
      -(1)When you're attacked by a member from the raided clan (including dispel)
      -(2)Trading/typing "list" at the clan shop
  • Sneak so you won't activate all those nasty strangle triggers
  • The following are illegal: Defenders killing their own keyguards, spam opening/closing.
  • The following is annoying: Emotes (eg emote flies north)

    Holding the room
  • Use the same defender tactics such as "where", having a spotter on the outside, and so on.
  • Assign targets to strangle/attack/intimidate if you know who's coming in.
  • Flight staffs are great for those defenders that land
  • Don't forget to land and web yourself. Use web scrolls to re-web if dissolved while fighting.

    Mapping
  • To suicide, attack defenders or use single-hit spells (eg immolate, not acid stream).
  • If the key is in jail, that's pretty much the end of it, unless you get it out:
      - Sneak back in quickly, grab the key, and spam east.
      - ANYONE in the group can loot the key, as you are automatically "consented".
  • If you get the key out, remember that it lasts only 8 hours. [Tukano]
  • Create aliases to open in all 6 directions, and to enter all portals from A-Z.

    Clan hall proper
  • Auction magic mushrooms if you forgot to bring money, but you pay auction and clan tax.
  • Beware of Noscan guards, one-way exits into portal rooms and exits back into the maze.
  • Hunt the shop. "Locate object" or "where" will easily provide you with the shop name.
  • Some clans have banks and fidos, which make getting money in and getting eq out easier.
  • If the clan has no donation room, "donate" the key, which will end up in your donation room.
