This recipe is for lick-and-stick glue like that used on the back of postage stamps. Your child can make stickers out of wrapping paper, magazine pictures or even pictures they draw themselves. The glue needs time to dry before the stickers can be used, so plan on having this be a 2-day project with the glue applied one day and the stickers cut out and used on the next.

Materials

  • 1/4 C Water
  • 1 packet (1/4 oz.) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 teaspoon corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or other flavoring
  • Small watercolor paintbrush
    1. Put 1 Tablespoon of the water in a small heat-proof bowl to soften the gelatin. Let sit for 5 minutes.

    2. Bring the rest of the water to a boil and stir into the softened gelatin. Stir till dissolved.

    3. Mix in the corn syrup and flavoring. Allow to cool.

    4. Cover work surface with newspaper or a plastic tablecloth.

      1. Using the watercolor brush, paint the glue lightly on the back of the paper you are using for the stickers.

      2. Allow to dry. The paper will curl while wet, but should flatten when the glue is dry.

      3. Once the glue is dry, cut out the sticker.

      4. Lick and stick as desired.

Glue can be kept in the refrigerator when not in use. It will jell when cold, but can be liquified by placing it in a pan of hot water to melt
