Arrive at the Manyane Gate before 17h00 on the
Friday where you must register at the boom ( not at
the office ) and fill in a complimentary entrance
permit.
Proceed to Potokwane Camp (this is a FOPS camp
site nestling in a secluded valley with an electric
fence).
Set-up camp, game drive, eat, early to sleep.
Up before sunrise, snack coffee/hot chocolate,
take water and hiking food with you.
You will be taken at sunrise
(in your own transport) to a site within the park
where, accompanied by an armed guard and the big five
you will perform some ecological task (probably be
eliminating exotic plants from the park).
Return to camp at about
10h00/11h00, go for a swim ( bring your costume ),
and the rest of the day is yours ( Brunch, relax (or if you
are lucky,) when its
cooled a bit go for a drive in the park but be back
in camp by the gate closing time, R10 per person fine
for being late)
September
to March 5h30 to 19h00 - April to August 6h00 to
18h30
Up before sun rise, snack
coffee/hot chocolate, take water and hiking food with
you.
You will be taken at sun rise (in your own
transport) to a site within the park where,
accompanied by an armed guard and the big five we
will walk in the park, note it is unlikely that you
will see any big game on foot and in any case you
really don’t want to bump into a rhino or a
Pilanesberg pitsa maker.
.
The
object of the walk is more to learn about tracking.
(spoor, dung, goggas
and so forth) and enjoy the wild outdoors.
Return to camp at about 10h00/11h00 go for a swim
and the rest of the day is yours, but it is probably
best to leisurely pack up and go home because it will
be to late and hot for any game viewing.
