End of Eternity Basic Rules Set: The Blood Bond

In the End of Eternity game, the Blood Bond’s mechanics work as listed below:

Reasons for the Bond

Making the Bond

Properties of the Bond

Weakening the Bond

Escaping the Bond

Each type of creature interacts with its blood bond in a different way:

Other Vampires
First Draught - Ally: At this stage of the bond, the subject has strong flashes of emotion regarding the vampire. They fantasize about them and concern themselves with issues of increasing their social relationship with the Domitor. They will go out of their way to frequent areas where they will meet the vampire or put forth an invitation to them personally. There are no mechanical effects, however, proper roleplay is required.

Second Draught - Close Friend/Paramour: While not a slave, the drinker considers the vampire a central figure in their unlife. While he may still do as he pleases, he finds the idea of bringing harm to the Regnant reprehensible, and takes social cues from her. Thus, he must win or tie in a Simple test to act against or harm his Regnant. All Social challenges versus the Regnant suffer a  -1 penalty.

Third Draught - Thrall: This is a full blood bondd. Nothing matches the victim’s devotion to the vampire. All other entities become second to her Regnant. All resources, influences and personal talents are offered up to serve her master. So enthralled to the will and command of the Regnant is she, that all Social challenges versus the Regnant suffer a  -2 penalty. Thralls are -2 to resist the Regnant’s Dominate (eye contact is no longer necessary.) She may not be fully bound to another while the original bond lasts. She must spend Willpower traits in order to temporarily resist the power of the bond. This self-determination lasts for one scene for indirect actions or one round for hostile actions taken towards the Regnant.

Mortals (Ghouls)
First Draught - Subject: Subject Mortals find theeir new masters to be as welcome allies and confidants. The Mortal is new to the state of ghouldom and thus may only use the Discipline power of Prowess. Secondly, the harsh introduction to the Beast lingering within the vitae makes the subject suffer a -1 to Self-Control tests for the period of a month.

Second Draught - Servitor: as Paramour (see above)), plus the ghoul begins to develop an unhealthy obsession for the security and welfare of their Domitor. They also desire to be close with the Domitor and involved directly in their life. If spurned or abused, they must make a Self-Control test vs. 2 traits or Frenzy.

Third Draught - Vassal: as Thrall (see above), pllus at this point the ghoul may begin to learn other Disciplines from their Domitor. These ghouls are, quite obviously, first and foremost loyal to their Domitor. This loyalty transcends all other Earthly or supernatural loyalties, including friends, family, clan, even children. Vassals readily perform almost any task; exceptions to this are exceedingly rare. Hurt, humiliation and debasement are not outside the scope of a Vassal’s expression of loyalty. Vassals primarily serve in three areas: as bodyguards, specialists or paramours to their Domitor.

Animals
First Draught - Pet: Subjects of the initial Bondd are still afraid of their Domitors, however this fear now turns panic and instinctual behaviors toward submission and compliance. Beasts, no matter the species, view their masters with awe and as a necessary companion. These feelings can quickly change if the animal is mistreated or thrown in harms way. The animal’s survival instinct and issues of fear still surpass the effect of the Bond.

Second Draught- Guardian: The animal becomes unseemingly docile and obedient to the vampire. As such, the Domitor gains a +1 trait bonus to calm the animal or to have it grant a reasonable request that is within its nature or intellect. The animal still has fears of the undead and may feel threatened within the presence of other vampires or supernaturals. Such issues of instinct may be quelled by the Domitor making an Social challenge versus the animal’s Instinct traits with retests using the Animal Ken ability.

Third Draught - Hellhound: The animal is thrall tto its Regnant, obeying any command it can comprehend or function to comply to. However the taint of vampiric vitae has warped the beast’s simple mind and it is a lot more aggressive and prone to violent outbursts when in the presence of any animal (including mortals) it believes are a threat or are less powerful than itself. The animal becomes willful and makes its Instinct challenges with no modifiers to the Domitor at at + 1 versus anybody else. Hellhounds possess an almost unwavering loyalty and will, subject to instinct, fight even unto death for their beloved masters.
