Welcome to the Operations Department area. The Ops personal
are the men behind the scenes always
working to keep everyone going and make the command and
ship look good for visitors and guest. We will
give some details and information about the jobs in which we
do.
Strategic Operations Officer
is the middle man between command of the ship and command
of the other
forces. The SO officer must know Security, Tactical, Intelligence
and Marine operations. The SO is the
focal point for planning coordination and execution missions. These
missions range from complex LCC
and Flight Deck operations in support of beach head exercises and
tasked operations, to underway
replenishments and integrated training to prepare the ship for any
contingency. The SO is also the ship's
second XO and thus the SO is used for both positions which stands
for Secondary Officer.
Chief of Operations: The
Chief Operations Officer has the primary responsibility of ensuring that ship
functions, such as the use of the lateral sensor array, do not interfere
with one and another. They must
prioritise resource allocations, so that the most critical activities
can have every chance of success. If so
required, they can curtail shipboard functions if they thinks it
will interfere with the ship's current mission
or routine operations. The Ops officer is in charge also of the computer
core and transporters. They also
deal with shuttle bay landings and departures as they all must
get clearance through him as well as the
transporters. The Chief Operations Officer is a Depart. head
and a member of the Senior Staff.
Operations Officer:
The Chief Operations Officer cannot man the bridge at all
times. Extra personnel are
needed to relieve and maintain ship operations. The Operations
Officers are thus assistants to the Chief,
fulfilling his/her duties when required, and assuming the Operations
consoles if required at any time. The Operations Officer reports
to the Chief Operations Officer.
Flight Deck Operations Officer:
The Flight Deck Operations Officer oversees the operations
that are
undertaken in the shuttlebays and maintenance bay that is part of
the ship or facility. All request for launch
and landing clearance must pass to the Flight Deck Operations Officer,
who in turn must pass on requests
to the Operations Officer manning the bridge.
Materials Officer:
Replicator usage can allow the fabrication of nearly any critical mission part,
but large
scale replication is not considered energy- efficient except
in emergency situations. However, in such
situations, power usage is strictly limited, so it is unwise to depend
upon the availability of replicated
spare parts. Thus a ship/facility must maintain a significant stock
of spare parts in inventory at all times.
The Materials Officer is the person responsible for the requesting
part from Starfleet and maintaining the
stock and inventory of all spare parts. All request for supplies
are passed to the Materials Officer, who
check and send the final request to the XO for final approval.
A good Materials Officer is never caught
short on supplies. The materials officer is an warrant officer
position and almost always a NPC position.

All
operations personal know the different levels of systems diagnostic protocols
and how to use them.

The
main computer core seen here and the various levels. Now go and find the loose
chip in this.
As you can see, Ops has
alot of things to do with the ship other than engineering.
