I have several Endurance horses mainly Purebred Arabians and Purebred American Saddlebreds.  But one in particular is my favorite - his name is Mountain Breeze Jack the Ripper.  He is by an Arabian stallion Bramasky Peter Pan and out of a Standardbred mare. He is 7yo grey and stands 15.3hh.

I have had him since a foal - I got him by chance.  I had an Arabian mare that rejected her foal and I wanted a surrogate mother.  I got one from Baraba, near Tamworth, and had her shipped down to Camden NSW.  Whilst I was on the phone after a chat and mentioning that I did endurance, they mentioned that they had a foal that would make an ideal endurance horse once he got older.  The story was that at 3 months of age Jack was sold and duly loaded onto a float and driven down the dirt road.  After 8kms Jack broke free and jumped out of the back of the float whilst it was being driven and ran all the way back home.

Jack was loaded with the mare and shipped to my place and the rest is history.

Jack was never formally broken in, it just happened.  My neighbour used to just hop on his back and ride him right across his paddock to my place for a beer and then ride him back again after the beer. Jack was only 18 months old at this stage.

Jack has excelled at endurance. He won the NSW Q60 100km in 2007, leading from start to finish. In 2008 he was 3rd in the same event, carrying 107kg. He breezed through and was full of beans at the end, doing donuts at final vetting.

I love my starab - he thinks he is human!
