Journal Writing Guidelines - Overhead
The following is a list of things to keep in mind when writing a journal response.
- What did you think about what you read? (Creative use of adjectives).
- How did it make you feel?
Happy...
Sad...
Frightened
- What did you think about the characters and what they did?
Were you on their side?
- Did they act as you would have?
- Did the selection remind you of a personal experience?
- Did it remind you of anything else you have seen, heard, or read?
- What is the author’s main idea?
- Did the selection raise any questions for you?
Remember
One or more of the above points may be of particular significance, depending on the selection to which you are responding.
