What is media? Well, media is a construct. It is a crafted piece of work that has been put together to appeal to the audience who then negotiate the meaning. It has ideological and value messages which makes it appeal to different groups. Radio advertising is a media. It is a form of media that has been put together to aurally appeal to the listeners in such a way that they find meaning in its construct. And the meaning is - buy this product. We have decided to look at the ways that radio advertising appeal to students, what kinds appeal and how it is constructed to appeal. This unit has been written for a Grade Nine Language Arts class, however, has cross curricular appeals for all grade levels.
We hope you enjoy.
