| "Strange Fits of Passion Have I Known" Notes and Interpretations |
| Notes: This poem was also a Lucy poem. Just as in "She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways," Lucy is some one the narrator loves. Once again the death of Lucy is mentioned. Interpretations: This was a very emotional poem. Wordsworth used a plain language so the reader could concentrate on content rather than style. Due to the heavy emotion of the poem, it can be said that is obviously about love. This poem completely refers to Lucy, though her name is only mentioned in the 4th and 7th stanza. Death is evident by use of phrases like "the moon descended," and "the planed dropped." The poem was written in past tense maybe to show that death and gloom are prominent. |
