Legend: Formula:: Formula | Limits: : Limits, Range | Notes: : Assumption

Sections: Armature | Commutator | Questions

Armature Winding and Core

<-- Back Items 01 - 11

Item 11. Total number of face conductors, Z
Formula: Subject for correction, use Z = (p Dq) / Ic
Limits: Subject for correction, when the number of slots, S is finalized.

Item 12. Number of Slots, S
Formula: Subject for correction: S = Z / Cs
Limits: Limited to the circumference of the armature, 2p r
Notes: Should be a whole number.

Item 13. Number of Conductor per slots, Cs
Formula: None, usually assumed.
Limits: Subject to the space within the slot width.
Notes: Usually, 4.

Slots per pole, S/p
Formula: Use: S/p.
Limits: Should be an integer plus 1/2.

Slots per pair of pole, S/p/2
Formula: Use: S/(p/2) Limits: Should be an odd integer so that the Slots per pole is feasible.

Slots per pole arc [integer], S x r
Formula: Use Slot per pole x r
Limits: Should be an integer

Item 14. Axial length of armature core, gross, la
Formula: Determined from the final value of the output factor, la. Limits: Subject for correction if flux density at item 15 is desirable.

Item 15. Flux per pole (open circuit), F
Formula: With final Z, use: F = (V x hz x 6 x 108) ¸ (p x N x Z)

Item 16. Pole Pitch, t
Formula: With final D, use: p D / p

Item 17. Pole arc, r t
Formula: With final t
Notes: This will result to final value of la ¸ (t r)

Item 18. Area covered by pole face, sq. in, la t r
Formula: Use: la t r
Limits: Compare result of B"g of item no.4 with standard.

 Items 19 - 23
