To tell truth, the only reason I started collecting Tau was that I thought the Firewarriors would look good beside my Gundams. It was also my intent to try minature modelling, having been on Gundam modelling for sometime. Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert...but I like experimenting with things. And this is the result that came out. One thing went awry though. I overestimated the size of the WH40K minis. The Gundams you see were meant to be 1 for 1 replacements for Tau battlesuits, not the current 1 for 3 system I'm using now. Of course, kudos to the opponents who have tolerated these Gundam "minis" so to speak. Onto fluff.

At the end of the Damocles Crusade, the Tau race as a whole became suspicious and slightly fearful of the Human Imperium. Of course, there were many Tau who became embittered by the senseless destruction wrought upon their once beautiful cities. One Tau Shas'O was of such a character. His name was M'akira. at the onset of the Damocles Crusade, his home city was one of those unfortunate to stand in the way of a Space Marnie battalion. It was all but pounded to the ground. Once elegant sky-scrapers lay like bloodied knives upon the broken body of the city. M'akira was very bitter as he had not been there to defend his home city. He had been stationed to guard a city on another planet, and although a taskforce had been despatched he was not among them. Against orders of the Ethereals, he lead a good half of his forces to the aid. However, when he arrived, he was dismayed to find the taskforce shattered and the city in ruins. Nobody can say what he lost in those ruins, but it is a bitter secret he harbours...even from his closest friends. When one speaks to him, he replies in a friendly and civil tone but one cannot help but notice his bitter aura.

This bitterness had to have an outlet, and it was unfortunate that it had unfolded to become wrath, wrath directed at the Ethereals. He held angry and passionate arguments against the Ethereals. The Ethereals, already infuriated at his impetousness discussed among themselves on how best to rid themselves of this thorn. When it had been decided that he was to be sent to the most dangerous front-lines, a young Ethereal stood up and suggested an alternative. No one knows how that discussion took place, save that when it was done it was decided that M'akira would be leading the bodyguard task force guarding water caste negotiator's on their journey to important Imperial worlds. The young Ethereal, the very same one who had suggested an alternative went along and several Tau had also joined, chiefly the reknown Earth Caste weapons engineer O'kiclk. The bodyguard force was a small one, the troops mostly comprising of those who had chosen to follow their commander in disobeying the Ethereal's orders. And so it was, the expedition had started.

When they first set out, the only battlesuits he had were those belonging to his personal retinue, namely 2 Crisis battlesuits, 1 broadside and 6 stealthsuits. Of course, the engineer O'kiclk couldn't keep his hands off them. His love of tinkering was indeed of great help to the expedition. Where there were gaps in the army needed to be filled, O'kiclk would be there to patch it up.

Gun drones are a staple of many a Tau expedition, their electronic fearlessness leads allows a Tau commander to take gambits without risking too much. Fortunately , O'kiclk's meddiling in their personality chips has actually led to the increased drone intelligence. However, this has caused many a squabble between these mischevious electronic ufos.

Space skirmishes with many Imperial ships have led to new measures being taken against boarding. Thanks to O'kiclk, the expedition ships are equipped with android security squads. When depoying troops, O'kiclk also makes use of these to substitute for badly needed reinforcements. The young ethereal also joins the ranks pretty often, his staff often a source of inspiration.

A hammerhead was never on the minds of the expedition planners when they drew up the roster. Yet, fate often has a way of giving one what you most need. This Tau tank was inherited from a Tau outpost the expedition came across it.

A new bigger meaner Broadside.
