Tau Scouting Party (Yan Xian) vs. Eldar Craftworld Terga-Dare (Raymond)

Two hunter cadres of kroot were guiding a small Tau battleforce through a recently deserted Imperial Guard outpost. The Tau force was sent to this location to remove the IG fortifications so that a colony ship could land and settle the planet. Undetected by the Tau, a group of Eldar, led by a Seer council unit of farseers and warlocks had arrived earlier and wiped out the IG for reasons only known to them. A kroot scout sniffed out the presence of the Eldar and alerted his Tau commander. The battle commenced.

The Tau forces were gathered in a tight corner with the kroot forming the perimeter. A unit of firewarriors was joined by an Ethereal, who provided much needed inspiration. Behind them the Tau commander in a Crisis Battlesuit with his bodyguards stood ready. A Hammerhead gunship and broadside Battlesuits stood ready with their railguns.

The Eldar army consisted of three full squads of guardians, a wave serpent with banshees, a Wraithlord, and the unit of farseers. The Eldar forces engaged the Tau immediately, catching a unit of Tau Stealthsuits, who had advanced first, off guard. The Eldar farseers used their collective physic powers to attack kroot and firewarrior squads. The firewarrior squad had heavy casualties, but stood firm thanks to the presence of the Ethereal. The kroot were largely protected thanks to their knowledge of the forest, where they hid. The wave serpent's lucky shot from a brightlance hit one of the Broadside Battlesuits and took him down. The Eldar guardian squads were too far away to effectively attack the Tau forces.

Tau forces returned fire with all their guns and managed to wipe out a large number of guardians, but were unable to do much damage to the Seer council, due to their resilience and extraordinary powers. The Eldar Wave serpent advanced forward and unloaded a large group of banshees very close to the Tau lines. The situation looked grim for the Tau. In a stroke of luck, the banshees were unable reach the Tau forces in time and the Tau forces cut down the banshees at close range. The tide of battle turned, and the superior firepower of the Tau efficiently eliminated the enemy. The Eldar Wraithlord was still fresh, however, and made an advance on the left flank. A squad of kroot engaged the Wraithlord, but the Wraithlord was impervious to their attacks. The kroot were slowly but surely killed. However, this allowed the rest of the Tau army to finish off the rest of the Eldar. By the time the Wraithlord finished off the kroot squad, the battle was over. Eldar forces retreated, and the Tau forces took the day.
