++Turn
1: Jeremy vs. Raymond++
|
|
The
campaign has started with a large boom and bang as the sleek Eldar of
Raymond take on the seige-master Jeremy's Iron Warriors. The following
battle that ensued was inevitably bloody as both sides dished out a high
number of shots each turn, pockmarking the battlefield. Facing the Iron
Warriors was my Craftworld, TergaDare. This time, I chose to field a very
fluid and fast force comprising of 2 Serpents, 4 Vypers, 8 Jetbikes (Farseer
included) and a Falcon. All this proved to be efficiently good at taking
on the Iron Warriors as my vehicles could close the range and bring it's
weapons to bear. However, never underestimate the close combat prowess
of the Iron Warriors. Let the battle report commence!

Turn 1 kicked
off pretty well for me as both the Serpents worked up the right flank.
Jeremy lobbed both his artilary shells at
me but amazingly, the shots scattered 6" and the second shot even
wounded his own men! Woah...
|

Despite being
safe behind some forests on the left flank of the battlefield, the Falcon
moved cautiously with the Jetbike retinue. The Falcon contained the
Storm Squad which eventually destroyed the tanks that the Iron Warriors
brought along that day. However, they were dispatched easily when the
Warriors entered close combat. Only a Guardian and a Warlock survived
when the Jetbike retinue swept in!
|
|

The Iron Warriors
all geared up behind the Orky fort which eventually proved to be quite
the trap it was. Notice how Jeremy has painted his men to a very high
standard!
|

The Warriors on
the left flank. They were the ones who eventually whacked the Storm
Guardians who took out the tanks. These guys are tough! If not for the
tanks and if Jeremy loaded on more warriors, the Eldar would have lost
the day.
|

The sweet smell
of revenge as the Warrior's shells finally hit home on Turn2. This time
taking both the tanks out...ouch. The Banshees and Dire Avengers all
bailed with some horrendous damage to the Avengers, 50% of the squad
was dead. The Banshees survived a little better.
|

Seen here up close,
you can actually see the damage as the passengers bail out of their
burning wreckages. Phew...at least the Banshees are still intact!
|

Not happy with
that shot, I retook as I think you would agree, the paint job is worth
the second take!
|

Pictured here
is the Storm Squad after they have dispatched the tanks, but before
they were torn to ribbons by the Warriors.
|

In turn4, the
Banshees had somehow managed to creep up behind the Warriors lurking
in their haven! Close combat was just waiting to happen. Note that the
Tau were used as proxies, not captives!
|

The Avengers were
practically huddling behind their wreckages as the Warriors fired round
after rounds of bullets into their midst. This however, gave the Vypers
a chance to move up and use their Starcannons to the fullest potential.
|
Bye-bye Banshees
as the Warrior's main retinue including the Lord charges in on Turn5.
The Lord just ripped my Banshess apart, but not before the Exarch gave
him a wound in return.
|
One last view from
where the Avengers were stuck. Them being here did do something good for
the Eldar, they attracted attention. Given that the Warriors shot at them,
the other parts of the Eldar army had the ability to tromp around the
battlefield with ease.
|
The
uneventful Turn1 that really demoralised Jeremy did take its toll
along the game. However, he did manage to gather his Warriors to counter
attack. However, the Eldar generally took the battle as the Warriors
had too many vehicles clumped behind some forests. The defence on
part of the Eldar was really handy to stem and trap the Warriors behind
the Orky bunker. This proved to be the Warrior's demise as the clumping
helped the Eldar to channel all their shots at the Warriors. In effect,
the battle stayed pretty much on the Eldar's favour.
