Part 1
The Public be Damned

"The public be damned…. The railroads are not run for the benefit of the dear public. That cry is all nonsense. They are built for men who invest their money and expect to get a fair percentage on the same"
William Henry Vanderbilt
Railroad Tycoon

America continues to be a country where the select few, like the late William H. Vanderbilt, can amass a vast and enormous private fortune built on the resources and money being supplied by the Federal government. That is resources and money that is initially coming from the pockets of the common people, then after the government gets it, the resources and money is quickly manipulated into the pockets of the rich by those in offices of public trust. The father of William, Cornelius Vanderbilt, amassed a fortune worth over $125 million dollars, mostly at the expense and welfare of the public and with the cooperation of Federal officials within the government. When Cornelius died he left his son a fortune worth over $90 million dollars and there is no telling how much more of a fortune William was able to amass by his death, as information on this part of his life is sketchy at best.

The feelings of William H. Vanderbilt pretty well sum up the feelings of those that have the money and power, but it was not the rich that were paying for the growth of transportation in America, it was the masses of common people paying the bill. Federal government gave away tremendously large sums of resources and money to people like William H. Vanderbilt and his father, for the purpose of developing the rail transportation system in the United States.

In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln signed a bill into law giving the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroads a large sum of money for constructing those rail lines needed to reach the Western part of the United States. The railroads received up to $48,000 per mile of railroad track laid and in addition they also received every other 640-acre section of land alongside the railroads' rights of way.

Large sums of money was not all the Federal government was giving away to the developing railroad rich, they also gave away over 200,500,000 acres of land that were in public trust, and they gave it freely to the railroads for them to develop their rail lines over. Much of this land was acquired years earlier by the Federal government at considerable expense to the general public, and the government just turned around and gave the land away for free, and for the sole purpose of private profit taking by the wealthy. Although a few free passes were given away to the public for free transportation on the railroads the majority of the people had to pay full fare for their transport over the rails.

In the 1990's there are still problems with land that was originally taken from the public trust and given away for free to the railroads. As rail lines become less profitable to operate many railroads have resorted to selling some of this land back to the public, that they got for free from the Federal government in the first place, and they are selling that land at tremendous profits and once more are raping the public tills for the money. What the public land trusts of our governments gave away for free in the 1800's, they are now buying back once again, with a select few in the private sector taking financial profits that are soaring into the millions of dollars. Once again it is the general public that is financing the purchases of this land which in turn is producing large monetary profits for the select few. Stupid once on the part of the people is a tragedy, but stupid on the part of the people twice and three times over, for continuing to fund such a travesty is more than just a tragedy, it is a crime against the intelligence of the people of America.

Only in a federalist government could such a scam like this be perpetrated on the common people in the manner that it is being done. The sad thing is, is that those people responsible for perpetrating this continuing rip off of the publics resources and money are being allowed to get away with what they are doing. Eventually the masses of people in this country and the world will wake and realize that they are being had and having it shoved to them at their own expense.

Every ill intended thing and/or action has its day of reckoning and this just might be the day of reckoning for federalism, and for Oligarchy forms of government. Continuing the tale of high profits at the expense of the people, here is an example of how the public buys the same land twice over.

There was a large tract of prime land that was owned by the Santa Fe Railroad in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The railroad decided that they would sell this piece of prime real estate to help their financial situation so they hired a firm to sell the land for them. Some interests in Santa Fe decided that they could use the land so a deal was struck with the city of Santa Fe and the land was purchased from the railroad for around two million dollars. In the long run it is the masses of people that will pay for the land and you can also bet that it will be a select few that will take the enormous profits from the development of that land, considering its prime commercial location and potential. The land should have been given back to the public trust for free since its initial acquisition was for free from lands being held in public trust by the Federal government. Nothing like the common people paying for the lands twice in order to put that land back into public possession!

It is doubtful if that excellent piece of land remains in public hands for long, as those in power in Santa Fe are greedily considering how to get there hands on it, so that they can rake in the huge profits to be made from the development of the land. In the meantime it will be the people of the city that will end up paying for the land and the city in the long run will derive very little profit from the land in comparison to the select few that will take most of the profits. That is the nature and the manner in which federalism thrives and exists, and the manner in which the common people bear the expenses and the costs.

Private profits at the expense of the public are the way federalism and Federal government operates and as long as federalists are allowed to remain in power that will be the manner in which government operates in the United States. The public has deep pockets with which a select few are allowed to build profits from, and the common people's attention span to government is so short that the masses of common people don't even care about the massive amounts of money the select few are taking from their pockets.

Railroad lands were not the only lands given away to the rich by the Federal government. In 1862 Congress passed the Homestead Act and for a simple fee of $10.00 and a few improvements on the land, an individual could acquire 160 acres of land from the government. At first glance this sounded like a good deal, but the act had many loopholes in it that afforded the rich the first chance at the best lands, due to the fact that certain individuals could by the right of first choice, purchase the lands needed for $1.25 an acre. If that didn't work out then the rich would set up "dummy" purchasers for acquisition of the prime properties in question and those "dummy" purchasers would then sell the land back to the rich land barons.

As a result of those land grabs by the rich, most of the select and prime lands of America fell into the hands of the wealthy, leaving only the land of lesser value to the common people. In this manner most of the lands with any type of valuable minerals or timber stands fell into the hands of the already powerful and wealthy, while most of the common people had to settle for land that had little to no value to it. This meant that much of the land to be used for farming by the common people had to be greatly improved upon before it became valuable as farmland.

The more valuable the farmland became because of the improvements made to it by the sweat and blood of the common people, the more closely it was being looked at by the money grabbing Eastern money barons. By fixing the prices on farm crops these money barons were slowly able to gain control of more valuable farm land by using "deflation" and "high interest rates" on loans made to farmers that found themselves in need of financing because of farm crops that suddenly had no value. By 1890 more than 100,000 farms in America had found themselves under the control of these large Eastern money barons when the common people couldn't afford to pay off debts on their farms.

While this happened the Federal government set back and did nothing to help the common people, although it did help the rich by being the ones responsible for the fixing of crop prices that led the farmers to being financially broke. This is another example of how federalism benefits and serves the wishes of a select few at the expense of the common people. In the 1990's farms and other real property are being gobbled up by the select few in the same manner, as they were being gobbled up more than 100 years ago. One hundred years from now lets have a government in place in America that really cares about people so we don't have to repeat this abuse to the masses of people ever again. It would seem that the people would have enough concern and desire to say that enough is enough.

Maybe when all of the private land and property that people own is gone and the people have to rent their spaces in which to live from their masters; maybe then, the people will come to realize the extent of their bondage, but by that time it just might be too late to do anything about their condition of bondage. Don't think that this isn't what those in power have planned, just look around at all of the large financial and mortgage firms buying up notes on property under the terms called "loan consolidation." This is another aspect and manner in which federalism operates and thrives, and how it maintains its base of power and control over the people.

Here is a past example of how revenue was and still is obtained by the Federal government contrary to the Constitutions requirement that all Bills of Revenue must originate in the House of Representatives. A little more then 100 years ago, in 1895, President Grover Cleveland turned to JP Morgan and other Wall Street Bankers. The sinking condition of the United States Treasury was of concern to Cleveland so he borrowed $65 million dollars in gold from JP Morgan and the Wall Street Bankers to shore up the Treasury of the United States. JP Morgan and The Bankers in return received an up-front commission of seven million dollars to supply the loan, and in addition to the up-front money, the Bankers also received the interest on the money they loaned to the United States.

President Cleveland also liked to use Federal force and power to put a stop to the frequent anti-government demonstrations that were happening in Washington, DC. In another incident that occurred as a result of the Pullman Strike of 1894, Cleveland used bayonet wielding Federal Troops to suppress the strike, which resulted in hundreds of people being injured, most of which were civilians. Federal authorities were mainly the ones that instigated the violence that occurred as a result of the strike.

During this same time span an Ohio Congressman William McKinley found himself facing certain bankruptcy with Bank notes against him totaling over $100,000. Iron tycoon Marcus Alonzo Hanna and several of his wealthy associates come to the aid of McKinley and agreed to pay off McKinley's Bank notes, and it appears as if there was more to it than just the pay-off of those Bank notes. What Republican Presidents and other Republicans have done and continue to do to America pales in comparison to the Whitewater Investigation that started Ken Starr on his pursuit to destroy the Presidency of Bill Clinton.

Marcus A. Hanna quickly becomes an even closer friend of McKinley and urges him to run for the Presidency. Suddenly McKinley finds himself the Republican Parties candidate for the Presidency, and behind McKinley is a campaign chest assembled by Hanna and other Wall Street Bankers amounting to more than $16 million dollars. In comparison the Democrats were only been able to put together an amount which was a little less than one million dollars, for their Presidential candidate.

Federalist money manages to buy the Presidency for McKinley and in return for all of his generous help Marcus A. Hanna becomes the United States Senator from Ohio. Wall Street and businesses are given a free reign by McKinley and his people, to do whatever they want without fear of Federal government restraint, and Public Trusts are allowed unrestricted growth.

President McKinley makes John Sherman who is old and suffering from severe memory loss, the Secretary of State.

Promised debtor legislation for the masses of common people is again swept under the carpet and ongoing moves for government reform are pushed into their grave by those in power.

The fledgling Military-Industrial Complex is starting to grow under President McKinley and Wall Street Brokers are clamoring to McKinley for "more profits." Military might grows under McKinley and Federal military forces capture Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the Philippines from the Spanish. This established the "sphere of influence" for America and gave them new territories to exploit for financial growth. War for profit has its firm financial start in America, and Wall Street and those in power just love it, especially the financial profits.

"This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the Military-Industrial Complex."
President Dwight D. Eisenhower
Farewell Address,
January 17, 1961

By 1990 the Military-Industrial Complex of which Eisenhower warned the American people about is a monstrous hydra with its various heads in control of every sector of the war-for-profits-sake-machine. Since its first noted appearance some 90 years earlier the machine has made much money at the expense of many lives lost, but no growth was greater than the growth it was given during and after the Vietnam War era. The Persian Gulf exploits are the current proving grounds for the Military-Industrial Complexes tools of destruction, but dictators like Saddam Hussain should not misconstrue this meaning to give themselves power, rather they should take it as a warning that the current climate in the world will not accept people or governments like theirs.

War means big profits and more profits mean more power, but to wage or even propose war for the strict purpose of financial profits is an almost worse perversion than wars that are fought for religious and ethnic reasons. Yet the world continues to fight wars and battles in far off places for those very reasons, and huge profits continue to be made with the daily continuing loss of lives mounting.

When former Secretary of Defense McNamara revealed to the public his knowledge and truth about the Vietnam War many were shocked, but to those already involved with researching the truth about the war it revealed only a little more about what they already knew. For those who were fighting the Vietnam War in the manner that they were having to fight it, already knew that it was a no win situation for America. Many people were even aware that very large profits were being made at the expense of American lives being lost on a daily basis.

Fuel tankers would often leave South Vietnam Harbors after unloading about half of their cargo, and would quickly drop the American flag when back in International waters. The ships would then hoist the Swiss flag or other flag of a neutral country and then proceed into North Vietnam waters, dock at their harbors and drop off the rest of their fuel. Financial profits as usual were the only concern of the big money people known as federalists, and the last of their concern was never for the American and Vietnamese lives being lost as a result of that war.

We continue to find new excuses and reasons for fighting the wars that we do, but the primary reason modern military conflicts are fought and waged, is for the need of the financial profits and extension of federal power that is produced for a select few.

America and the world must learn how to prevent the military conflicts that are currently being waged in the world, or be willing to face the invariable and catastrophic future consequences of war-for-profits, that will most certainty come about in the near future. Wouldn't it be much better to have a planet jointly engaged in a space exploration program of our universe, and wouldn't it be a much better use of our resources and finances than the destruction war creates? There are many more positive and constructive ways that governments could be spending the people's money, and ways that would better benefit the masses of people on this planet.

People can ignore this scenario if they like, but they cannot avoid the fact that as this planet grows in population we are going to need new places to live, as there is only a limited amount of space on this planet for living conditions to remain practical and efficient. Life can only be sustained within a certain set of parameters and human beings and their basic life needs falls within that set of parameters, and the planet on which they live is the same way.

History records scandal after scandal from 1900 on and reflects an America ripe with the abuses of corruption. It also records incidents done to the common people time after time; all done in order to keep the masses of people in the United States under the control of the rich and powerful forces of federalism.
