Not bad. It started out and I thought I was in for a cheap novelization of the film "Memento." Then it diverged and I was happy about that. Then I thought I was in for a remake of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Nope again. In the end it was a combination of those things, "Jaws," and "Being John Malkovich." British without being unintelligible. Typographically it did some pretty exciting things. It turns out, now that I think about it, that I have no idea what exactly happened at the end. Maybe some authors just do that, for effect. It makes me feel stupid and like I haven't had closure.

It certainly was unique though, and I admire that. A horror novel in a purely psychological way, but with a mind-shark instead of a psychopath. So while it may have reminded me, at times, of the aforementioned movies and book, it was nothing like those things.
