Usually I get these images for these book essays from the Ramsey County Library website, which in turn gets them from Syndetics.com, whatever that is. For whatever reason though, the RCPL didn't have the image for this book, Winter Sign. So I found it at the University of Minnesota Press web site. Link here.

Perfect book to begin my SUMMER of non-fiction. I was taken to the Northwoods near Ely during the cold months. Delicious.

It got a little bit long-winded and deep towards the last half. It earned its New Age stripes. But aside from that, I loved the voice and the scenery. The wolves and deer, the ice, the solitude, the occasional French and Ojibwe. Lovely.

This also, for the record, was the first book I took with me for reading while donating plasma.
