It stinks that it gets dark so early now. It means I have to drive home from doing plasma in the dark. I don't care much for driving in the dark. Other cars' headlights are ridiculously bright these days. Am I just getting old and crotchety, or are headlights just way brighter now than they used to be?

They don't ask if you want to use your left or right arm anymore. However, instead of just assigning you to a bed without asking, they assign you to a section and you get to choose the bed, if there's more than one open. Today I didn't have a choice, because there was only one bed open, but it worked out. I had gone left three times in a row, today I had a right bed. It's not as much of a problem going three times in a row on one arm as at first I thought it would be.

I saw my sister-in-law doing plasma on Tuesday when I went. I had seen her the week before too but at that time I just saw her at the door going in as I was done and going out. This Tuesday I was donating and about half done, in a bed in the green section, when I saw her go by heading toward the orange section. She didn't see me. When I was done I went and found her and talked to her a few minutes. Then I left. The next day I got e-mail from her telling me that she had an incident later. She was just about done donating and she nearly blacked out. They disconnected her and gave her blood cells back (and saline) and she was fine. I guess her heartrate went way down. She has no idea what was different about that day that would make that happen. Neither do I. She's doing okay now, not sure if she'll keep donating in the future or not. Scary.
