Sue stuck me today and Friday last week. It was absolutely painless. I had never had her before until Friday, and then I got her twice in a row. I've joked before that ripping the tape off at the end hurts more than the needle going in. That has been a joke. But with Sue, no. The needle feels like nothing.

(When they stuck you, they tape to your arm the needle and the tube connecting you to the plasma machine. Taking the tape off at the end is like pulling a bandage off; it sticks to the hair on your arm and it hurts.)

When I got wrapped up (not by Sue) and sent home at the end, I wasn't wrapped up very tightly. It was a snowy morning, so I had to brush snow and scrape ice off of my car before I could drive away. This I did, using my right arm, because I am right-handed, without thinking about it. I had just donated with my right arm. It must have been too much exertion, because when I was about halfway home I could feel wetness inside my sleeve. I knew what it was. But I was driving and still had fifteen minutes to go, so I just left it alone. When I got home I had blood all over the inside of my shirt sleeve, all over my arm.

Oh well. Part of the indirect cost of doing plasma.
