Tuesday Independence Day here in the United States. Most people don't work. But the people at the plasma place do, poor kids. I'm not sure why, but today they had a promotion which included five extra dollars when you donate, a coupon for five extra dollars the next time you donate, and free lunch. Hot dogs, chips, and pop (a.k.a. soda for those of you not from the Midwest). Good deal. So I didn't donate yesterday, but rather waited until today to take advantage of the deal. I figured it'd be busier than usual. And I was right. It was very busy. It took about three hours from the time I got there to the time I left, but well worth it. I had nothing else to do today. And I got a lot of reading done. More on the reading later. I just looked at my check and discovered that it was for $21. That's bizarre. I'm not sure what the deal was. I thought it was going to be $25, twenty for the plasma and five for the promotion. I don't know if it's worth it to ask them about it next time I go in or not. Usually they have you look at the check when they give it to you, to make sure the name and the amount are right. But today the guy handed me the check, the coupon, the ticket for my lunch, and a card for the gas sweepstakes; so I didn't get the chance to look at the check and discover the anomaly. Hmm. A predicament.
