friday The guy that stuck me today just started sticking people recently. He was just setting up machines and giving people bandaids a while ago, now he's sticking people. He did a good job, don't get me wrong. I'm just surprised at how little it takes to become one of those people, the plasma technicians who stick you and take your blood. I was under the impression that they were mostly medical school students working part- or full-time to pay their tuition bills. Not so. Any schmuck with a clean record can go in there, get a job, and be sticking people within a couple of months. And it doesn't even pay that well. I make more money that some of those people do, and I don't make that much. I'm not horrified to learn these things -- I'm sure there are still strict quality standards that must be met. I'm just surprised because I never really thought about it before.
