Tuesday, May 16th, 20064:44 A.M.A two-mile run only two days after a three-mile run. But I pulled through. It's getting to be light, even so early in the morning. It's twilight practically by the time I get back to the house. And there's a month to go until the solstice. I prefer running in the morning. Mostly because then it's dark and quiet. The streets are empty. I don't want people to see me running. The other advantage to running in the morning is that it gets my metabolism up for the day. I have a harder time staying awake on days I didn't run than on days I did. Regardless of what time I got to bed the night before. I spent an embarrassing amount of time on Sunday playing around on the computer to get these running pages organized and polished and online. Just a mess of problems. But I downloaded an old (free) version of the BBEdit program, figured out the Grab program for screen capturing the maps from maps.google.com, and dinked around with AppleWorks to edit the images with arrows for my routes. I've had this Mac for a year and never played around with any of that stuff. But I digress. It was a good morning. 50 degrees F, thereabouts. It rained yesterday evening, and maybe sprinkled overnight. It was very lush and fragrant out again, like it was that one day last week, but not quite as much. At various points along my jog I smelled fabric softener, dog poo, trees in blossom, and the smell an old Atari game would make after it got hot. |
