Saturnday, May 20th, 20064:15 A.M.About two blocks from home at the beginning of the run this morning my chest started hurting. Like above my heart; my aorta maybe. It wasn't debilitatingly painful, but uncomfortable enough that I thought about stopping. I kept going anyway. A mile or so in, it persisted. I told myself that if it was still bothering me by the end of mile three, I would stop then instead of going for four. Mile three ended and it had kind of gone away, but only in intensity. Maybe I had just gotten used to it. Maybe I was distracted by all the other stress my body was going through at the time. I ran the fourth mile anyway. There was just a faint hint of coming dawn in the east when I started. By the time I was done it was practically daylight. This is a testament to how slowly I run. I need to pick it up. But cautiously. I hurt myself last summer by trying to speed up too much too fast. I'm just going to put a link to the map of today's route. It's a bigger picture and messes up the formatting for the page. I could scale it down but that always distorts things so. So here it is. Back to Running |
