Saturnday, May 27th, 20064:00 A.M. on the seedsI'm going to have to start wearing shorts when I run. I've been wearing sweatpants up till now, and I'm just too sweaty and disgusting by the time I get home. I ran four miles. The normal three-mile route plus two half-mile appendages. Each half-mile appendage being a detour from Hazel to White Bear Avenue and back. The first down at Spruce and the second closer to the finish line, out on Birch and back on Roth. Very quiet out there. The only traffic I saw that wasn't on White Bear Avenue was the newspaper delivery guy on Oak Street just north of Cedar. I'm pretty sure it's Oak Street there. It's Oak Terrace south of Cedar, and Birch street when it turns the corner and goes west, but the Google map makes it look like it's Birch all the way to Cedar. Anyway, the paper fella was northbound there also, so when I passed his idling car I jogged away from the headlights. There's nothing worse than jogging into the headlights. Last weekend when I ran I encountered this same paper bloke at the same place, but I was making the circuit the other direction and jogged into the headlights. It's almost enough to make me want to jog during daylight. It's a gamble. The rest of the run was marvelous though, dark and lonely. ![]() Back to Running |
