July 20, 2151 - The Starfleet selection committee convenes to decide the commanding officer for Starfleet's second interstellar exploratory vessel. After careful selection, only two remain that are considered fit to command this vessel, Captain Josiah Windstrom and Captain Julie Nichols. After days of deliberation, Windstrom is chosen and awarded the command of this new ship.

August 12, 2151 - Captain Josiah Windstrom arrives at orbital drydock for a tear-filled dedication ceremony. The new vessel is christened "Valiant."
