Legally Blonde

Reese Witherspoon fully satisfies the writ of habeas Clueless in this airheaded but fun comedy. The bubbly, curvaceous sorority queen gets all, like, heartbroken when her ambitious beau (Matthew Davis) dumps her because she's not smart enough to figure into his future plans. So, what's a Cosmo-loving gal to do? Kick arse on the LSATs and follow him to Harvard Law School, where her Valley-girl speak, ditzy sincerity and glitzy Rodeo Drive garb sets preppie Boston on edge. Witherspoon's blonde ambition tour eventually leads her from the guy to grades--she rules the school, struts her stuff in court, helps out random friends and falls for the low-key and charming Luke Wilson. Full of verve and confidence, we have to rule in favor of Witherspoon, who carries this uproarious bubblegum pleaser beyond its simplistic trappings.
