Sakura enjoyed a relatively normal early life. She had a loving family, did very well at the Academy, and even had a crush on a boy. That boy happened to be Uchiha Sasuke. As such, she was thrilled to be teamed up with him after graduation. At first Sakura served as the brains of the trio, as she lacked any real physical prowess. She was very smart, considered one of the smartest at the academy, and she was often the one who came up with the plans that got the team out of difficult situations. She continued to moon after Sasuke, who showed no interest in her, all the while completely ignoring Naruto, who it turned out had a crush on her.

Sakura's complacent life began to fall apart after Sasuke was marked with the Heaven Seal. The growing tension between Sasuke and Naruto tore at her, because although her crush for Sasuke had blossomed into love, she also loved Naruto, although as a brother, not a romantic interest. Seeing the two of them constantly at each other pained her greatly, and she often played the part of peacemaker. When Sasuke ran away to join Orochimaru, Sakura placed her trust in Naruto, begging him to bring Sasuke back to her. He failed, but she forgave him, realizing that she put her trust in others too often. She then sought training from Tsunade, and was accepted as the Fifth Hokage's apprentice. She has been training in the medical arts, her great intelligence and near-perfect Chakra Control aiding her in becoming a top-notch medical ninja.

In addition, Tsunade has begun teaching Sakura the secret to her super strength. Although it is not yet fully realized in the young woman, Sakura already possesses the strength of several ninja: In time, she will become as powerful as Tsunade, able to shatter boulders with a single punch.
