The Indian Forest Act, 1927 :-
The Wildlife Act & the Forest Act together establish five main categories of protected areas - National Park, sanctuaries, reserved forests, protected forests and village forests.
Important provisions of this Act :-
1. Section 3 - 27 states about the various provisions relating to Reserved Forests like the procedure how a State Government will declare a forest to be a Reserve Forest, the procedure which a Forest Settlement-Officer will follow & rights claimed whose property is present within the Reserved Forest.
2. Section 35 - 38 states about the various provisions relating to the control over forests and lands not being the property of the Government.
3. Section 41 - 44 mentions the provisions relating to the control of timber & other forest produce.
4. Section 52 - 69 states the penalties and the procedure to be followed. The punishment is articles in respect of which a forest offence has been commited shall be liable to confiscation. Under section 63 imprisonment for 2 years & fine is also provided.
