The many-colored Kouphaleiryth attracted a rather colorful participant that she had had her eye on.
The reddened bronze that chased her let her go a little ahead before swooping down after her.
He was huge compared to all other dragons in the flight.
Except for the sunset and morning sunset who were rather large also.
She looked back behind her, unable to see him.
She flew on, looking back for her chaser, only to blunder right into him.
Huge Pheonith twined his neck with her's and she accepted him happily.
The two golds Eoth and Valaeryth flew eagerly into the skies again.
They had acquired two bronze chasers, by the names of Mazdath and Everesth.
Eoth looked back at her chasers, surprised to see Mazdath there.
Had they not already flown together today?
She rocketed skywards with a powerful thrust of her wings, separating herself from Valaeryth.
One of the bronzes followed her, she was sure of that, yet she did not look back.
Instead, she flew into the blood red clouds and tried to blend in.
Unfortunately for her, she was gold.
And that made her easy prey for Everesth who flew in after her and caught her easily.
He blended in more than she did, after all.
Velaeryth flew towards the sun again, determined to lose the bronze in the same way she had lost her other chasers before.
Yet, the sun was red now as it had set more.
Mazdath dove down from his higher perch and met with her when she thought to escape again.
She gave in rather easily.
He was a good bronze after all, another Weyrleader.
Gold Nijaith soared in the wake of the other two golds, trying to outrun her Falas-born chaser.
She rolled, swooped and turned, trying to dodge him.
Unfortunately for her, she was still tired.
She had not had long to recover from her flight with Ahtlukeith.
Rankareth caught up to her easily and plucked her out of the sky for his own.
Electric marked red Cyilonith flew alongside autumn Akith, both females darting and weaving agilely.
Felinruad soared after them and, slightly below him, so did copper Ewerth.
The genetically altered female tried to double back on her chasers, playing on the idea Ewerth was chasing Cyilonith.
She was wrong.
Akith dove under the copper only to have him latch onto her tail and follow her.
She squealed slightly in surprise and Ewerth twined himself with her.
That left Felinruad with Cyilonith.
The tawny-orange flew lower and she spun upside down and watched him descend to her.
They clasped talons mutually.
That left three females and three males in the air.
Bronze Akyoth was back for another flight now, her and Kerenath having parted recently.
Amber-gold Kerenath was also after another prize.
Two amber streaks flew over the less-than-half circle that was the sun.
Kalionth flew hard to try and stay ahead of the energetic and younger Kerenath who was slowly gaining on her.
She flew around and around above the sun in ever smaller circles without noticing it.
When she found that she was at Kerenath's tail and him at her's, she let out a squack of surprise and veered off.
Too late, she had decided to turn and the amber-gold grabbed her tail.
Kalionth turned and looked back at him, sighed, then let herself be caught.
Kerenath grinned,
There will be far too many Kalionths hatching from this... he teased.
Akyoth peeked behind her to see who was her chaser,
Haeth?!? she cried, both in surprise and in anger.
The brown flew a little faster,
What? he asked.
You have some nerve! she snapped, flying faster.
The brown saw her muscles loosen and anticipated her dive enough to dive also and catch her, levelling out their fall,
Maybe I do. he replied with a satisified tone.
Tiny little Karith huffed slightly in tiredness as she tried to stay ahead of sunset Mikioth.
He was more than three times her size and that made staying ahead of him was hard work.
She felt her wings falter and squeaked in surprise.
Karith looked back at Mikioth and suddenly felt life in her wings again.
She had wanted a larger mate.
Not a huge one!
The sunset dropped down and gathered her in his claws,
I won't hurt you. I may be big, but I'm not dumb. he said, sounding affronted.
Down below, green Lyornath gathered herself and leaped into the air.
Reds Chreothath and Tagmetath gave chase, their strokes still powerful.
She looked at them and shook her head,
No fair. she stated.
Chreothath glared at Tagmetath.
He would catch his bond this time.
Not this intruder.
He hissed at the other male and snapped at him.
Tagmetath stared at Chreothath before backing off.
The other red nodded smartly and flew up to catch his bond.
I knew you would catch me eventually. Lyornath crooned.
Of course I would, do you think I'd lose twice? replied Chreothath.
Tagmetath did not have long to wait for there to be more females to chase.
Bronze Akyoth rid herself of Haeth rather quickly and flew back into the skies.
This time, however, she was determined not to be caught so easily.
She flew past the red and towards the almost gone sun.
Much to her dismay, he did not give chase quickly.
And he stopped chasing her when Kalionth returned to the skies and Kerenath stayed on the ground.
Kalionth saw the red heading for her and flew faster into the skies, determined to fly at least a bit before getting caught.
The sun was now only a third of the size it had been the last time Kalionth was caught.
It was only fitting that she be caught before Akyoth also.
Tagmetath flew towards her and twined his neck and tail with her's as the sun became a sliver.
Akyoth circled the Frenzy's 'grounds' on her own as the sun seemed to shrink ever more.
She was alone, and she did not like it,
Is there no one for me? she whispered as she flew,
Is Kalionth to finish my Frenzy?
A soft voice spoke to her as she wheeled again,
Not if you do not reject me. the other bronze said.
Pheonith and Akyoth met above the others, just as the sun slipped from the horizon for the night.
And this, my friends, was the end of the Frenzy's flight.
The Frenzy itself, however, is about to begin...
