There'd been only one secondary in whole of
Cyprus for his community, and
one education
department for the entire colony under British
system of education then -except for language
taught in
; teacher Ari was their choice to head
one of only three recently opened secondaries
.
Under the British system, in 1941at Morphou College, at Agricultural College, then heading in Arodez , then at Nicosia
English School & heading Paphos & Loudrijina secondaries -which then grew to include teaching & other graduates from
universities. in Turkey & in England as members of his teaching staff; in late 1959 wanting various private tuition for a
son in Nicosia where the following year a headship was to open he agreed to teach at Bayraktar secondary, occassionly
at Haydarpasha Lycee ~in mid. 1960 Cyprus became independent with a Turkish Education Dept., and intercommunal
troubles following in 1963 he later taught at English School again until mid.1974, after the war deciding against teaching
in England, also at Ataturk & at Girls' Technical Institute, 1979 retiring at 60, offered a teacher's, on a head's pension.
