Fast access to information of
synthesis is an imperative of the actual period when there was recorded a
rapid progress from local processing computers to networks, Internet and
e-commerce. Thus, no matter the field of activity, economics or engineering,
the knowledge of a database system is an elementary fact of basic information
technology culture, strictly necessary due to the actual informational
explosion.
This
book is a teaching instrument of the most employed database system in
nowadays Romania – Visual FoxPro, which is included in the curricula of the
Economics Academy of Bucharest and in other Universities in the country, in
the ‘Database Systems and Programming Languages’ discipline. The manual is
both an initiation mean in Visual FoxPro and an access gate in the FoxPro
universe, leaded by its own philosophy. Thus, in the book are presented basic
information together with methods to solve a specific problem. In this way
the book is dedicated to both beginners and to the people who want an
effective structuring of the notions, techniques and programming methods in
Visual FoxPro.
The
teaching style uses commented programs divided in modules, teaching method
which offers several programming solutions for a given problem specific to
the current module. The student who attends this course gains: basic
programming skills, programming methods, information regarding the
organization of the data in related tables, this means the most important
knowledge employed to design and develop software applications.
The
author of this book, Emil M. Oanta, has a great experience in programming,
being the author of many applications consisting of more than 120000 computer
code lines, programs written in different programming languages (Visual
FoxPro, Pascal, Fortran, Lisp, BasicCAD, etc.) which are dedicated to
different fields of activity (economics, engineering, physics, numerical
methods, etc.).
Emil
M. Oanta is the author of more than 100 scientific papers, articles, research
contracts. His scientific activity has begun in the undergraduate period when
he has developed several programs which use the analytical geometry in design
applications, his papers being appreciated with many awards at the local and
national scientific congresses of the students. After graduation he worked
two years in a computer office. Then he has obtained, on competitive bases,
the following university positions: assistant professor on probation,
assistant professor and, at present, lecturer.
These information regarding the author confirm once more
time the value of this book which is an important practical guide in the
learning of the Visual FoxPro database system.
