"We were the only ones not exactly surprised when the news came out. Only we recognized the face on the television screens – the madman who threatened nuclear holocaust unless his demands were met.

Only our little group knew the mad man was just a little boy.

A little boy with a madman inside."

Chapter One: Discovery

Six teenagers. Six stood in the center of the United Nations meeting hall, each pressing translator ear-pieces tightly to their heads. One young woman stared defiantly at the crowds staring down at them, her hands clenched tightly at her sides. Next to her stood a young man who could have been her brother, his posture so near hers. Behind them stood a tall young man, standing straight, almost military straight. Next to him stood a boy with almost feminine grace, who stared at his feet, avoiding the eyes upon him as he let his ear-piece fall to hang about his neck. And standing away from this group; and even each other were two quiet figures. The girl clasped her hands in front of her, nervous in such a place. The boy kept glancing at her as if to say, "See? I knew it!" Before hurriedly looking away from her face, where three marks stared out from her forehead. Four marks that challenged his conscience every time he looked at her.

Kwai Ling stared at the group despairingly. So far, their answers to the nation’s questions were far from satisfactory. Who was this Rin as they called him? Shion, as he called himself. How did he get to the moon? Never mind build a moon base strong enough to create a hundred-foot crater in the Sahara desert?

That had been his first act, evidence that he was serious and had the firepower to back up his threats. First the world had lashed out against itself. The United States had blamed the Russians, saying they must have secretly built the base during the cold war. Nearly every country in Europe and Africa blamed the US. Someone in Asia said that England had created the base, hoping to restore herself to a world power. Someone was foolish enough to print the damned quote.

But then these children had been found. Come forward really, though no one wanted to believe what they were saying.

"This Shion/Rin is only 7 years old?" the secretary general asked incredulously, putting down his wide rimmed glasses and rubbing his eyes tiredly.

"Please, sir, he’s only a little boy. A very frightened child." Alice spoke up, her voice so soft the interpreter barely heard her.

"I think you should explain that statement. The figure on our screens is obviously a much older man."

"It’s just an illusion." Issei looked up from his scrutiny of the floor to answer. "He can somehow make himself look like he did in the past."

The others glared at Issei, as if he had given away important information.

"The past?" Ling leaned forward from her chair. "What do you mean by that?"

They stared at each other, obviously uncomfortable with the question. "You had to say something!" Jinpachi lectured his friend angrily.

"Young man, we need all the facts before we can mount some form of defense against this boy! If you are holding something back you must tell us!"

"Or what? You’ll lock us up!" Sakura spat out. "I think it’s ridiculous how we’ve been treated! Just grabbed out of our homes!"

"Young lady!" the English rep pounded his desk for quiet. "The entire world is at risk here! And it seems that you 6 children seem to know more that our intelligence agencies!"

"The entire Earth." Alice said softly under her breath.

Jinpachi turned to Issei and whispered, "She’s gonna talk."

"It all started when I let Rin fall off the balcony!" Alice said in a rush. Many faces looked at her, confused. Were their translators working correctly? "I mean, that’s what awakened him to his past life, and started all of this. And then he pretended he was Shukaido, because he didn’t want me to know he was Shion…so young! And then he was in the hospital because Haru's friend couldn’t understand he was just scared! And…" she had pointed to Haru as she spoke.

"Will someone please explain what she is talking about!" The secretary general sighed in exasperation.

"I believe I will try." Daisuke stepped forward, as always, collected as if the entire situation was under his command. "Gentlemen, 16 years ago, there was a base on the moon run by alien scientists from another world. When their own world was destroyed, the moon was the only home they had left. Unfortunately, a terrible disease swept the group. All seven of them died. We were reborn as human beings on this earth."

"They are going to throw us in jail!" Sakura sighed, throwing her hands up. There was no way anyone was going to believe that.

"I see." The secretary general said quietly. "And do you take pride in playing jokes when serious matters are at stake!"

"It IS NO JOKE!" Jinpachi cried, exasperated at the entire process. He was tired, hungry, and completely fed up with Rin for once again ruining everything. As he screamed, he threw his arms down in an angry gesture, and took out much of the floor, the psychic blast reaching far across the room.

Silence in the hall.

"Secretary general, I believe we can take it from here." Ling stood up from her place. "Children, please come with me."

"We are not children!" Sakura growled.

"Very well." She shrugged, "but you will come with me."

A group of American soldiers entered the room, outfitted in military fatigues, and bearing semi-automatic weapons. They surrounded the group, leaving only a tiny amount of room to slip through, and follow Kwai Ling.

They followed her silently.
