Dr. Sun Yat-Sen (1866-1925) His personal name (ming) is Sun Wen (originally Dixiang), given to him from birth. His social name (zi) is Sun Daizi. His literary names (hao) are Sun Rixin, Sun Yixian (Yat-Sen), Sun Zhongshan and more. When Dr. Sun was in Japan, he gave himself the names Nakayama or Hayashi. He was the president of the Zhongguo kuomintang (Chinese Kuomintang); therefore members of this party, to this date, still refer to him as President Sun. Dr. Sun was born in the Xiangshan district, in the Cuiheng village. In memory of Dr. Sun, the Xiangshan district was renamed the Zhongshan district. |
