Enchanter's End Game
Garion and his companions cross the border into Gar og Nadrak with a Drasnian merchant. Belgarath convinces the Orb to disguise itself. They stop at Yar Garuk for the night and Silk is disgusted to find that a wanted poster about him is still being circulated.
Garion and his companions move up into the Nadrak mountains where they meet an old friend of Belgaraths who warns them about the Mallorean recruiters. They arrive at another mining town and learn from a drunk Nadrak that the army in the West is being led by a Queen. They leave just in time to avoid the recruiters.
Belgarath leads them through the Nadrak forest and they reach another settlement. While there they watch a Nadrak woman being sold. They are forced to leave quickly when a serving man recognises Silk but trackers are discouraged from following them by wolves in the forest.
Garion and Silk go into a tavern to get directions and are captured by Mallorean recruiters. Before they have a chance to escape Yarblek comes to their rescue and tells them he is taking them to see King Drosta in Yar Nadrak.
Silk and Garion are taken to see Drosta. He tells them he wants an alliance with Rhodar because he is afraid his kingdom will be crushed by Zakath. Silk suggests he send Yarblek to Porenn who can then deliver the proposal to Rhodar. Belgarath arrives and Drosta realises who he and Garion are.
The group leave Yar Nadrak. They are followed but Silk delays the trackers by setting a trap. Beldin arrives and tells them about Ce'Nedra's army and the Alorn plan to attack the Angaraks. He also tells them that the twins had a visitation and told that the Orb was going to heal Torak. Belgarath tells Garion that the Morindim are another group of godless ones and explains the difference between magic and sorcery.
Garion and his companions move into Morindland disguised as questers. They are challenged by the Weasel Clan and Belgarath is forced to summon a demon with which to battle them. The magician of the Weasel Clan loses control of his demon and it kills him. The 'questers' move on and reach the edge of Mallorea.
Meanwhile in the Kingdoms of the West the Alorn Queens attempt to run their kingdoms without their husbands. Ran Borune sends a Tolnedran general called Varana to unofficially help Ce'Nedra oversee the legions and Sadi decides not to ally with the East or the West until he sees which direction the war is going to take.
Ce'Nedra and her army move through the Ulgo mountains to the Algar Stronghold. Ce'Nedra, Adara and Ariana go riding and find Adara's Rose which has spread across the hill. Varana arrives and Rhodar explains the Alorn plan to take Thull Mardu. Beldin, Beltira and Belkira arrive, intending to help Polgara battle against the Grolims.
The army moves onto the Aldur river. Durnik suggests an alternative way to portage the ships. Ce'Nedra goes to visit the troops and meets Garion's childhood friends who have come to join her army.
Queen Mayaserena seeks to heal the rift in Arendia, Ran Borune creates a replica of the battlefield and Sadi informs Droblek and Melgon of his intention to stay neutral unless the West begins to lose. Porenn and Islena expell members of the bear cult from their respective kingdoms.
Anheg and Rhodar learn of Porenn and Islena's actions. The Thulls begin to surrender. Polgara tells Ce'Nedra that if Garion loses then the dark prophecy says that she will become Torak's bride.
Bored within the fortifications Ce'Nedra, Adara and Ariana go riding outside. They are found and chastised by Hettar. Adara, unable to bear his disappointment in her, tries to run but Hettar catches her. A Murgo shoots her and Hettar kills him. Thinking that she is dying Adara confesses her love for Hettar. Polgara chastises Ce'Nedra for her stupidity
Beldin brings news of a Murgo colomn marching in their direction. A contingent is sent to deal with it, comprising of elements of the entire army. The ships set sail on the River Mardu.
The army manages to capture Thull Mardu by working at night but at dawn see the entire plain to the south of the city is covered with Murgos.
Beldin reports that the Malloreans are coming from the north. Beldin and Polgara work on counteracting the Grolim's sorcery but the final effort is almost too much and, after creating a breeze to dissipate an unnatural fog, Polgara collapses.
Lelldorin's cousin is killed, as is the serf Detton. Cho-Hag fights and kills Taur Urgas. Olban is brought to Ariana's tent, dying, and confesses to his father that he tried to kill Garion. Rhodar and his troops are cut off from making a retreat.
Ce'Nedra contacts Belgarath for help in how to deal with the unconcious Polgara. Polgara, Ce'Nedra, Durnik and Errand are capyured by Zakath's troops. Drosta betrays Zakath to help the Alorn troops escape. Zakath has King Gethall flogged and tells Ce'Nedra that she and her companions are to be delivered to Zedar at Cthol Mishrak.
Zakath hands Ce'Nedra and her companions over to the Grolims who escort them across the sea to Cthol Mishrak. They are met by Zedar in the tomb of the One Eyed God. Their guide is driven to insanity by the sound of Torak's voice.
Garion, Belgarath and Silk enter Mallorea. Torak begins to whisper to Garion, promising love and family. Garion finally tells him to stop because he is coming to kill the God, regardless of what he promises. Belgarath is infuriated because, in doing so, Garion has announced their prescence to every Grolim in the district
Garion and his companions are pursued by the Hounds. A sudden storm comes up which stops them from following and the dry voice tells Belgarath that he set it in motion last spring. Garion and Belgarath adopt wolf form to sneak past the other guards and make their way to the iron tower.
Garion, Belgarath and Silk overhear Polgara and Zedar talking. Zedar kills Durnik. Belgarath and Zedar fight, disappearing below the ground. Garion sees his enemy and realises the full subterfuge behind Torak's offer of love. Belgarath emerges from beneath the ground.
Belgarath tells the others that he has left Zedar buried alive in solid rock. Garion bombards Polgara with images of Durnik and she resists Torak. Garion and Torak fight and Garion realises that, to defeat Torak, he must reject him. He does so and then kills the maimed God. For one moment the universe comes to a complete stop.
The Gods arrive to mourn their dead brother. Errand asks the Gods to restore Durnik. Aldur asks Polgara if she would be willing to limit herself to Durnik's level of power. She agrees but Mara refuses to restore Durnik until Belgarath offers him the Marag woman Taiba. The Gods use Garion to restore Durnik. Garion then uses the Orb to heal Torak.
Approximately six months later...... Garion and Ce'Nedra are due to be married. Polgara and Durnik have a quiet ceremony and Polgara discovers that Durnik can use sorcery and she has not lost her own powers. Garion learns that Adara and Hettar and Relg and Taiba have both been married. Garion and Ce'Nedra are married by the Gorim. Later that night a drunken Belgarath wanders in on the Orb and discovers that it has been spying on the royal couple.
