Salty Chocolate

Witty, witty rain, trickling down my windowpane
Sheltering the wicked and freeing the insane
Crackpots jump the railroad tracks in search of fortune
In the end of all the wars, who would have won?

Vines shimmer across the lake’s breast with fervent style
Flirting with the robin’s nest in devilish beguile
Frequently, they explore the world of uninterrupted chasm
Only to find it hexed by former renters and phantasm

Coaxing a situation never makes it succeed
What does it matter if a man wears plaid or tweed?
As long as his beard is trimmed and his lexis well-spoken
Tête-à-têtes can be reserved as a very precious token

Bloody canals contract and expel thieving mongrels
Writing them a lesson learned on vanishing scrolls
Debris to some is jewel to another
Just as a kiss between a friend or a lover

Robbers camouflage with masks; Presidents wear a disguise
Smiling eyes conceal trickery except from the wise
Brothers courting sisters was common in the past
Now in this terror-ridden world, why are we so aghast?

Thanks, Lord, for burgundy drinks and worthwhile causes
For moments in the sun, the wind and romantic pauses
For senses, seasons, friendship and love, I am gratified
The orgasmic taste of salty chocolate cannot be denied
