Orlando

Orlando

Friday, May 19th, was an early out day. I had my hair cut, it was only supposed to be a trim, but now it only extends to the middle of my arms instead of the very end of my back. We left for Disney at 4:30pm and checked into our hotel, Port Orleans. The hotel set-up was nice, but it wasn’t really what I expected as far as sleeping arrangements for a Disney hotel. I slept with my mom, Nicole, and Jacquie. Our first stop that day (since we had four day passes, we could go anywhere, however long whenever) was Epcot. They had a fireworks show at 9pm. We had the worst trouble getting in, we arrived there at 8pm and didn’t get in till 9pm, because the guy didn’t believe we were Florida residents (since none of us had our licenses) which gives you a discount. When we did get in, we got pretty bad seats, but you still got the same effect of the show. (Esp. me since I can see over everyone’s head.)

The next day we went to MGM. We got on the wrong bus and took the extremely long way to get there. I personally didn’t do much since I didn’t want to go on the Tower of Terror or the Rockin’ Roller coaster. We did however see the Star Wars parade (their May special) in which we saw the guy who played Dark Vader, David Prosse, and the kid who played Anikan, Jake Lloyd. We didn’t stand in the five hour line to get their pictures though. We also saw the Drew Carey show, Doug, and whatever else might of had a short line.

Then around 3pm we went to the Magic Kingdom. That park is entirely way too big. All the rides had forty minute waits. The only ride we actually did was the Teapot one, plus we saw the Lion King show, and we did wait in the hour plus line to go on Splash Mountain, which was fine since it was dark outside and had some sort of breeze. By then it was 9pm again and we wanted to see the electrical parade. That was a long wait for nothing. I mean, sure, big floats with lights, but I had pants and a sweater on so the bugs wouldn’t eat me and it was hot. By then it was thirty after and everyone but me wanted to go on some other ride so I stayed with my mom and Julia while they left. They were supposed to come back at 10pm to watch the fireworks with us, and did they? No. In fact, they split up, the five of them, and only three came back at 10:30pm. I was pretty pissed and tried so the four of us went back and the other two went looking for the other two. I don’t know when they came back because I was in the shower. All I know is that I didn’t go to bed till midnight and I got up at 5am the next morning.

The next morning, we went to the Animal Kingdom. We went on the Safari ride of Africa, which was pretty long. Our guide was from South Africa. Then we went to see It’s Tough to be a Bug and now I know why parents don’t like bringing their kids there. I mean, I knew what was coming because no one can keep their mouths shut when they’ve already done a ride, but the kids that were in there were screaming and crying. We saw the Tree of Life, you had to go inside it to see the bug show. We also went on the new Dinosaur ride that was pretty scary. Jacquie does not do well with elements of surprise. Then we headed over to Epcot.

On Friday night we had picked up a flyer that had what was going on at Epcot. They have this Flower Power thing going for the month of May and it just happens that Herman’s Hermits was playing Sunday. We did a few things before, they had a Millennium booth and then Julia and I saved third row seats for an hour and a half just so we could watch Herman’s Hermits. We had specifically went out and bought an autograph book for it. It wasn’t a very long show and when they left, I was pretty pissed that I wasn’t going to get an autograph. There was a group of people who had gotten to go backstage before the show started and got all of their signatures because they were in his fan club or whatever. But, my luck, he came out and I stood in line for a half hour just so I could get Peter Noone’s signature. He’s the nicest guy and my little group must of had a five minute conversation with him. I made all those forty year olds mad.

By then it was almost six and we decided we would leave since we had school on Monday. I thought we were going to get there entirely too early until we ended up getting on the turnpike and someone got in an accident. That was only because I jinxed us.
