Shows, Events and Races
There is so much to say, and in fear of boring you I will make it as brief as
possible. I have sorted the info into sections for you ;
First decide who runs the shows, you, stable owners, event co-ordinators, the general public?
Where can you advertise shows, have a message board for that.
Do they have to reserve a date or can they pick any?
Do they need to reserve a show ground, run it at there stable or are you not going to both with venue?
Do they have to pay (I personally think (depending on the type of show) approx. 10% of the entry takings is a good price for a show, or $200 a class)
What can they charge for entry fee?
What are the prizes?
Show limit - how many per class/race, how many races in a race meet
Tack - do race enterers have to have appropriate tack
Must the classes be specific .i.e. the Shetland in a show jumping comp
How are they judge - Random winners are the best I think
Points - Is there a system? Do you even have a point system
Where do competitors go if they have a complaint, or they think the judges are biased or unfair?
Can show holders enter their own show
Is there a limit on how many shows a week. How many one person can hold?
A group of non-related classes. One show many have a dressage, show jumping and barrel racing class. I think all classes must have specific restrictions aka Show jumping for horses over 15hh or Cross country for riders 13-21 years of age.
A ODE, 3DE - a competitor enters into three phases dressage, cross country and show jumping the winner is the person with the least points. You can also have Advanced, Intermediate, Preliminary, Novice, Pre-Novice ect. Usually only one is held by one person.
Held at a race track. horses (usually thoroughbreds) race to see who is the fastest. I suggest one race meet per week with up to 20 races. Also specifications are critical in these events. (Remember: 1 furlong=1/8 of a mile) Monty's Peak 5 furlongs, 3 year olds only, fillies only, dirt track
One rodeo is usually held by one person. The events in this vary from cattle cuttings, bronco riding to barrel racing. These have a huge selection of events so prepare carefully. No specification required.
The only thing specified is the distance. 100 miles is not rare usually only one race over different terrain. Arabs are the best at this.
Pony Club Pony Club is a collection of events and races for the younger horse riding population. Things like bending, obstacle courses, egg and spoon races and the flag race are fun events to do. Perhaps in your game you have to work your way up the pony club ladder before you can begin to compete professtionally or at a higher level
