Capital of Uva
Badulla,Uva's well appointed provincial capital is
about 230 km. from Colombo by road (via
Bandarawela,Blangoda,Ratnapura and Avissawela) and is
also a important road junction, with main highways to
the southern and eastern coasts and the hill capital
Kandy and other provincial centers. It is
picturesquely set in the verdant valley of the Badulu
Oya at 660m above sea level.The historic
Muthiyanganaya Dageba,Kataragama Devale and the
Sorabora Pillar Inscription are located in the city
centre.The Dunhinda Falls,Bogoda Bridge and several
large tea plantations are short distances away.
Badulla is also terminus of the Sri Lanka Railways'
main line,a spectacullar 240 km. cross country
mountain raill road.

houses,rental vehicles and taxi services,well stocked
shops,restaurants,a sport stadium,conference hall and
modern communications are among amenities available to
visitors.
