"WHY ERAP SUCKS"

by SUSHI-X

"Huwag ninyo akong subukan!" Sounds familiar? Of course it does. These were the very words that made the current president "Erap" Estrada a household name. The statement, though short, invoked a lot of high hopes all over the nation, in fact most of us were certain that with his swash-buckling rhetoric was real and that a hero has finally come to rid the country of its ills and somehow revive the ailing economy and the diminishing morale of the Filipino masses – Arthur, ladies and gentlemen, has returned and will bring back the glory and prestige that was Camelot’s. But two years have already passed and the promise of Camelot is not even in sight. The fears of the most discerning were confirmed: cronyism is back, blunders which put the entire Filipino nation in shame occurred, the peso fell, investors are pulling out one by one from the country because of its reported instability, censorship almost became a reality – which makes it suffice for us to say that Erap is indeed one brain short of manning the country. His words like all the others’ were nothing but empty promises, a fine example of the eloquence that characterizes the usual trapo – he has deceived us and we all believed him.

Blame it on our poor judgement. After years and years of faulty choices, we obviously still have not learned to discern the difference between a choice cut of meat from a bad one. We have been offered a variety of gourmet treats yet we succumbed to the lures of fast food with its consumeristic and costumer-friendly appeal. We were blinded with the glitterati of showbusiness and have not realized that their countless words could have been nothing but memorized speeches which highly affects us because of their movie-like tirades yet utterly devoid of any intelligence nor sense. This and more aptly describes the man whom we have chosen and now, for just three nights of live special appearances of his fellow contemporaries in the flesh trade that we call showbusiness, we are suffering and this suffering will continue for four more years.

We are being ushered into an age of darkness reminiscent of a similar one that has taken place not so long ago in the annals of our country. The same tactics are being employed only with a slightly different approach and being called with different names. Why should we wait for the surprise onslaught of another tyrannical rule? Heroes filling the volumes our colorful history have perished and have given up their lives in order for us to enjoy this freedom that we are now experiencing. Will we let their cause and memory slip into oblivion and be in vain? The country needs the proper healing and Erap is just aggravating her circumstance all the more. I say we all stand up and choose the same path they have taken – it’s time that we do something good for our country and that is, ridding her of the 300 pound mammoth that occupies the throne.

So, altogether now: ERAP, GO AND STICK YOUR ASS ASS SOMEPLACE ELSE!
