Brooke and Eric's stolen kiss on the b&b has loyal fans bussing, er, buzzing.
While some would love to see Brooke and Eric reunite ('Brooke absolutely shines with Eric, fan callie posts), others loathe the idea of revisiting the past (A rerun would be horrible, Joanne writes).
Natural History
'There's a wonderful history between Eric and Brooke, B&B supervising producer Rhonda Friedman explains. 'At this point, Brooke's goal is to do what's right for her kids. Part of Brooke would like to make them happy by reuniting with their father, and a part of her genuinely loves Eric. He's a wonderful man, a wonderful father, and he was a wonderful husband.'
John McCook would like to see the story come to fruition. 'Eric and Brooke have been drawn together as family, as friends and lovers and ex-spouses lately', McCook says. 'I'd hate the idea that they wouldn't take advantage of it'.
The hurdles
One obstacle preventing Brooke and Eric from reuniting is Stephanie. Although Eric and Stephanie are estranged, they are still married-and Brooke is her new best friend.
'Brooke knows that Stephanie loves Eric and Eric really loves Stephanie', explains Friedman. 'After everything Stephanie has done for Brooke, there's no way Brooke will jeopardize that relationship'.
A second factor is Deacon, who returns November 20. If Eric learns that Hope is the product of Brooke's affair with their daughter's husband, that could drive them apart.
'Eric will be shocked', McCook predicts. 'He'll have the same reaction as Stephanie: 'when are you going to grow up?' Whatever closeness that he has with Brooke will disappear....for about four days'.
Can't help falling in love
McCook feels like he wins no matter which woman Eric chooses. 'the scenes between Eric and Brooke are sweet', he says. 'It's sweet with Stephanie, too. I enjoy working with Susan and Kelly for different reasons. Kelly is adorable and beautiful. It's easy for me to have Eric fall in love with her as long as I'm looking at her. It's easy for me to do the same thing with Susan. We've been together for 15 years and know each other well. It's fun'.
