Jennifer found her perfect Daytime Emmy gown while shopping in Beverly Hills with co-star Susan Flannery and B&B’s Costume Designer Birgit Muller. "One word. Valentino. It’s very jungle," Jennifer explained about her stunning dress. "I was walking down Rodeo Drive with Susan Flannery and our costume designer and it was reverse Pretty Woman. Susan was sitting there going, ‘Yes. I like that. I don’t like that.’ I trust her and as soon as I put that dress on, everybody just went, ‘That’s it.’"
CBS.com: Second year in a row -- tell me this doesn't get old.
JENNIFER FINNIGAN: No, this doesn't get old. Susan [Flannery, Stephanie] can tell you that.
CBS.com: Have you spoken with Adrienne [Frantz, Amber] and Susan [Flannery, Stephanie]?
JENNIFER FINNIGAN: Yes, I spoke to both of them. Susan called me from her car and Adrienne called me from wherever she was. So, we are all really happy.
Q: “Who welcomed you on the set with open arms”?
Jennifer: “I think everybody would have the same answer for that. It would be John McCook. He is the warmest, kindest, most amazing man that I know. I mean he is just very much a father figure to every young person on the show. He's witty and funny and extremely supportive and everybody loves him so much and we're all so grateful to have him there.”
Q: “Who on the show is your mentor”?
Jennifer: "John McCook [Eric]. He is such a fantastic person. He opens his arms to everyone. I'll always remember the time he knew I was upset about something, and he came to my dressing room and we talked for two hours. He told me stories about his life in the theater and just gave me fantastic advice."
"He brings out something in me that no other actor does," she notes. "He's so generous that as soon as he opens his mouth, I feel. And between scenes, if we have a really close bonding scene, he'll come up and just give me a hug".
Q: "When you were starting out, what's the best advice a veteran gave you?"
Jennifer: “John McCook (Eric) is so full of advice that he gives her advice every day. He's always said to never lose the love for acting and that I should take it seriously, but not too seriously”.
Digest: In one word, how would you describe Susan?
Jennifer Finnigan: Wonderful. She is definitely an inspiration. She´s incredibly intelligent and strong. She has an enormous amount of confidence, but it´s not cocky. People just respect her and her opinions.
Digest: Were you intimidated by Susan at first?
Finnigan: Susan exudes a certain amount of power, and I think if you´re new or green, that can be intimidating. But she´s also warm, and that comes through when you get to know her. When I started, I wasn´t completely myself. I was more Bridget than Jennifer around everyone. It was only when I came out of my shell that we really formed a bond.
Digest: What plans do you have when you’re in New York for the Emmys?
Finnigan: Susan loves Broadway as much as I do, so we´re going to try to see at least one show together.
Digest: Besides knowing which party you´d better show up at, what else have you learned from Susan?
Finnigan: She´s proof positive of why you shouldn´t go over the top in a scene, no matter what emotion you´re playing.
Digest: Do you like it when Susan directs you?
Finnigan: I´m always excited whenever I´m involved in any scene with her, whether we´re playing opposite each other or she´s directing.
