On a party Eric and Stephanie had, Beth Logan was one of the caterer. Eric came upon Beth twice that evening. The first time, he didn’t recall who she was. But the second time he ran into her, he suddenly realized who she was. Elizabeth Henderson, his high school sweetheart. As his marriage was bad at the time, Eric and Beth started dating again. He told her why he had left her all those years ago and she told him about her family and that her husband Stephen had left them years ago. Storm Logan told his mother that Eric was married and she shouldn’t date him. Stephanie on the other hand pleaded Eric to give their marriage a second chance. He decided to do that and he and Beth stopped seeing each other.
But as time went by, Eric started feeling discontented and started seeing Beth again. Stephanie started feeling suspicious again because of Eric’s absence. So she followed Eric to the Logan house one evening and thought Eric was cheating on her with Brooke. But then she realized Caroline was staying with Brooke to recover from being raped by Ron Deacon, and thought Eric was there to see Caroline.
One day, Beth discovered a lump in her breast. She refused to be a burden to Eric and told him it was over between them. He had lost his former love again.
In the meantime, Stephanie started seeing Clarke Garrison. A man she had hired to “date” her daughter Kristen to find out if she was frigid. Clarke was interested in the Forrester money and company, something he thought he’d never be part of with dating Kristen. So he set his eyes on Stephanie. She on the other hand just wanted some fun. The two of them kissed and Clarke gave her a beautiful brooch. Stephanie thought about having an affair with Clarke but decided against it. So Clarke decided to once again try with Kristen as his original plan was.
Stephanie started concider the idea that Eric was dating “Liz Henderson”, no knowing she was now Beth Logan. Brooke told Eric about Beth´s breast cancer. Eric went to Beth´s side telling her he wouldn´t leave her. Stephanie was impressed by Brooke´s devotion to her mother, still not knowing “Liz” was her mother. Beth recovered from her breast cancer and recovered at the hospital. Stephanie looked into Eric´s old collage yearbook and found a picture of Liz. Later, she visited Beth at the hospital and opened her bible. Stephanie realized Beth was Liz as the bible was inscribed “Liz Henderson”. Eric asked a devastated Stephanie for a divorce which she agreed to. But she wasn´t about to let him go. She hired Conway Weston, a detective, to find Beth´s husband Stephen. Eric wanted Storm to declare Stephen dead so he and Beth could be together. Katie and Helen Logan didn´t like it and Helen told Beth that the only reason Stephen had left them was because he felt inferior to the mighty Eric Forrester. Conway found Stephen in Arizona and Stephanie anonymous let the information leak to the Logans. Brooke and Donna flew down there to convince their father to return. He returned and was blasted by Beth and Storm for deserting the family. But he was accepted back as he saved Katie´s life from choking on food. Stephanie decided to end Eric & Beth´s relationship once and for all and asked Bill Spencer to hire Stephen at Spencer publications in Paris. She even subsidized Logan´s salary. To get Beth to move with Stephen to Paris was the next step in Stephanie´s plan. She told Brooke to push her mother to move or else Stephanie would tell Ridge that Brooke knew about Eric & Beth´s affair long before he did, which would make Ridge dump Brooke. And Stephanie then went to Beth and tried to convince her of all the good sides of moving to Paris. Beth started thinking of it.
