Eric started seeing Brooke and comforted her about her parents leaving and being dumped by Ridge who went on to marry Caroline. The Logan family was torn after their move to Paris and Eric found out from Brooke what Stephanie had done. He was mad at Stephanie and went to confront her about it. But he found her unconscious in their house. She was rushed to the hospital and the doctors informed Eric and the family that Stephanie had suffered a stress attack. Eric now had difficulties to ask her for a divorce but still wanted out of their marriage. Eric started seeing more of Brooke. He eventually told Stephanie that he wanted out and she didn’t believe him. But he was serious. Brooke and Eric started an affair and Brooke got pregnant. Stephanie wanted her and Eric to go to marriage counselling. But he wouldn’t. He agreed to wait a month before announcing the divorce. Thorne told Brooke that Eric & Stephanie was reconciling and Brooke flew to Paris. While there, she met Pierre, a restaurant owner. Brooke was about to have an abortion but Pierre called Donna who told Eric where Brooke was. Eric flew to Paris and stopped the abortion and explained he was not going back to Stephanie. He proposed to Brooke and she happily accepted. Stephanie refused to give Eric a divorce. So Eric took off to Las Vegas to get a quick divorce. Stephanie found out from Thorne that Brooke was the other woman and that she was pregnant. After having it out with Brooke, Stephanie flew to Vegas and stopped Eric from filing for divorce. Eric warned Stephanie about standing in his way. Caroline found out she was dying of leukaemia and told Brooke she wanted her to be there for Ridge when she was gone. Brooke was committed to Eric, but granted her friend’s wish. Caroline had one last party in her honor and pared who was dancing with who. She put Eric with Stephanie and Brooke with Ridge. Later that night, she died in Ridge’s arms. Eric and Brooke moved into a condo, but Brooke was unsure of Eric´s feelings for her and her own feelings and left town to think. Bill Spencer tried to make moves on Stephanie, but she gently declined as she was set on winning Eric back. She started working at Forrester creations again and suggested to Eric that she would agree to the divorce if he and Brooke moved into the mansion with her. He declined. Eric begged Stephanie for a divorce so his unborn child would be born in wedlock’s. But Stephanie refused. Brooke returned to town and went into labour. Ridge took her to the hospital where she gave birth to Eric Jr (Rick). Stephanie realized the divorce was going to get through with or without her acceptance. So she went over to Eric and Brooke and told them that she would give Eric his divorce on one condition. That they would remain friends. Eric agreed and they signed the divorce papers.
Eric and Brooke started making wedding plans and Beth returned to town, wanting Brooke to move to Paris so she could have Eric. But Eric told Beth it wasn´t going to happen since he loved her daughter. Stephanie came over to Eric´s and Brooke´s to see the baby. But they were sceptical. As the baby woke up, Stephanie saw and praised him. Alone, Stephanie stopped pretending and cried over losing the only man she had ever really loved.
Taylor was torn between Ridge and Storm. Ridge took her up to the Big Bear cabin where whey found Eric, Brooke and Stephanie. They all found themselves snowed in overnight. Brooke told Taylor it was wrong of her having Storm´s ring and date Ridge. But Brooke was acting from her own jealousy. She herself was torn between Ridge and Eric.
