Stephanie remained at the hospital to recover for a few days. Ridge brought Taylor to see her, Felicia almost spent the whole night by her mother’s bedside and they were all worried. One day when Eric came to visit, he spotted Adam and Stephanie kissing and realized how torn she was between her homeless friends and her family she couldn’t remember and told Stephanie he wouldn’t pressure her to regain her memory. Stephanie asked him to tell her a little about herself to hurry up the process. He told her she had been a good wife, woman and mother. When asking about why their marriage ended, Eric ducked the question and told her they would talk about that another time. After a few visits, Stephanie got the impression that Eric still loved her even though she still couldn’t remember anything. One evening after another visit and Eric had just left, Stephanie suddenly blurted out “He didn’t mention Beth Logan” and caught herself by surprise. Was she actually starting to remember? She rushed out of her hospital room to tell Eric, but he was out of sight.
Stephanie returned to the Forrester mansion after being released from the hospital. Stephanie’s memory was coming back piece by piece until she remembered it all. But she kept quiet about it. Her reason for doing so was to try to win Eric back. They were closer now than they had been for a long time with their newfound friendship. She didn’t want that to end, which she feared it would if he knew she remembered her past. So Stephanie met with Brooke and friendly asked her to help her remember. Brooke agreed and the two seemed to become friendlier with each other which pleased Eric. But Brooke wasn’t sure what to think about it. She wondered if Eric wasn’t still emotionally involved with Stephanie and asked Ridge about it. The two of them wondered what was happening as well as secretly wishing Eric and Stephanie would reunite so they could have a second chance together. Eric visited Stephanie and she wanted him to tell her what she had done that caused their divorce. Eric told her how she turned the Logan family upside down. Stephanie, who already knew it, told him how sorry she was for doing that. She said she saw why he divorced her and asked if he ever forgave her. He said in time he did. And she wondered if she ever forgave herself. With that, Eric took her in his arms and comforted her.
Bill Spencer started to suspect she had her memory back when he tried to convince her they had been lovers. But he kept it to himself. Meanwhile, Stephanie wanted to expose Brooke and Eric´s marriage as a sham. She hired a PI to install cameras in Brooke´s lab to get her on tape cheating on Eric. One night when Eric visited her, he decided to take her out to Pierre’s restaurant for dinner. But he wasn’t to thrilled when they arrived and saw Brooke and Ridge by a table – kissing. They tried to explain why they were kissing (to make Taylor, who was kissing Blake at another table, jealous) but it didn’t go so well as Eric wasn´t convinced. Ridge took Brooke home as Eric and Stephanie stayed for dinner. Stephanie told Eric that Brooke would enjoy spending time with Ridge because they were from the same generation and had a lot in common therefore. But it was very important for a woman to have experience and stability in her life, and that’s what Brooke got from Eric. So he shouldn’t be afraid to lose her. That had Eric relaxing and they could enjoy a nice dinner while Eric continued telling her about their past. Brooke was annoyed and she and Ridge decided not to see each other. But Eric wanted them to work together to develop a formula that could make fabrics wrinkle free (Belief).
Stephanie told Adam she had gained her memory back and Brooke saw Adam kissing Stephanie and figured Stephanie hadn´t her memory back and wasn´t manipulating to get Eric back. Stephanie now wanted to help Ruthanne since she didn´t want her friend living on the streets. Eric decided to help her. He tracked down Ruthanne´s ex-husband Mitch and together with Stephanie, he went to San Diego to talk to him. Mitch, Ruthanne and their children were later reunited.
Stephanie told Ridge that she had her memory back but told him he could not tell anyone as she believed Eric was falling back in love with her. Ridge proposed to Taylor who turned him down, and it pleased Brooke. Stephanie told Brooke about regaining her memory and pleaded with Brooke to pursue Ridge. Eric thanked Stephanie for helping him get closer to Brooke which crushed Stephanie. Ridge told Eric Stephanie had her memory back and Eric went straight to Stephanie. But he wasn’t angry she had lied. He just wanted to know why. Stephanie explained how she regained her feelings for him with the memory and wanted him back. He didn´t believe those feelings were that strong anymore and told her how pleased he was of their newfound friendship. She had become his best friend. Stephanie told him she realized for the first time that she had to let her feelings for him go. They hugged.
