The masquerade engagement party, 1997.
As the newly engaged couple returned inside to the party, it didn’t take long for the news to spread and the disgracing party turned into an engagement party.
(Eric & Stephanie comes inside and see Rick pouting. They go over to him.)
Eric:
Rick, have you seen your sister?
Rick:
No.
Eric:
I though you were gonna keep an eye on her tonight.
Rick:
I’m not here babysitter, dad!
Stephanie:
Rick, that’s rude.
Rick:
This party is totally lame.
(Rick goes away)
Stephanie:
I’ll go talk to him.
Eric:
No, no, I’ll talk to him later. You and I have something to celebrate right now.
(They kiss as Lauren looks on depressed)
(Thorne comes over to them after being told from Zorro (Ridge) that Eric wanted to talk to him.)
Thorne:
Dad, you wanted to see me.
Eric:
No, who told you that?
Thorne:
Some guy over there. Look, we’re gonna get out of here. I think we all should. This is a disgrace.
Eric:
Well, you’re right about that. But something tells me that the mood of this party is just about to change.
Thorne:
What do you mean?
Eric:
You want me to tell him, or…
Stephanie:
Sure, you tell him.
Eric:
No, you know what, you tell him.
Stephanie:
No, you tell him.
Eric:
No, I think it would be better if you tell him.
(Thorne looks on like “tell me already”)
Stephanie:
All right, I’ll tell him. You’re father proposed to me, we’re getting married.
(Thorne is stunned).
Thorne:
This is fabulous, and what perfect timing!
(Thorne rushes over to the stairs to give a speech.)
Thorne:
Everyone! Over here! Please. Listen up! Big announcement!
Grant:
What the hell is he doing?
Thorne:
Listen up, listen up! I have the biggest news of the evening!
Reporter #1:
What is it?
Reporter #2:
What’s going on? What’s the big announcement?
Thorne:
Okay, here it goes. On this, the eve of our fashion show, and incidentally this collection like all of our collections is primarily be worth of my father and my family. But there is another reason to celebrate tonight. I am please, thrilled, to announce; My father asked my mother a very significant question. The answer was yes. Ladies and gentlemen, Eric and Stephanie Forrester are engaged to be married!
(All guests cheer, except the Spectra’s and Grant)
Sonya:
Have you set a date yet, Mr. Forrester?
Eric:
No, not yet Sonya. But you’ll be the first to know.
(Guests laugh)
Sonya:
You look surprised, Mrs. Forrester.
Stephanie:
I think that’s safe to say, yes.
Grant:
He planned this, didn’t he?
Reporter #3:
Mrs. Forrester, show us the ring!
Brooke:
I don’t think so.
Bridget:
Mommy, daddy’s getting married!
Brooke:
Yes, I know honey, isn’t that wonderful.
Grant:
I bet Ridge had something to do with this.
Brooke:
No, I don’t think he knows anything about this.
Bridget:
Yes, he does. He heard uncle Thorne.
Reporter #4:
Eric, will the entire family be there?
Ridge:
Well, how about that?
Taylor:
So that’s why you came here?
Ridge:
I had no idea.
Taylor:
What? Your dad just popped the question out of the blue?
Ridge:
That’s dad!
Reporter #1:
What about size Mrs Forrester? Do you want a big wedding?
Stephanie:
I think I’ll leave that up to Eric.
Reporter #1:
But what do you want?
Stephanie:
Oh, I guess just for the groom to show up at the church.
(Guests laugh)
Eric:
I’ll be there, I’ll be there.
Reporter #4:
Tell us honestly now, Stephanie. Were you truly surprised?
Stephanie:
It’s safe to say I was. He took my breath away.
(Guests go “aaawwwwww”)
Thorne:
Okay friends. What I’d like now is to make some room on this dance floor for this very special couple. Mom, dad, I don’t have to tell you what this means to me. Our whole family. A whole lot of prayers have been answered.
Stephanie:
Thank you, honey.
(Music comes on.)
Thorne:
Let’s make some room, let’s make some room.
(Eric and Stephanie dance as everyone looks on.)
