Minister:
Good afternoon, welcome to you all. There is no more joyful occasion in life than the joining of a man and a woman in holy matrimony. Today’s occasion is particular blissful as Eric and Stephanie come to rejoin their hearts after being apart. Marriage is full of rewards and honesty. It’s filled with challenges, but these challenges provide the strength and the supreme fulfilment for a husband and wife. Eric and Stephanie has faced their challenges, they have met them and they have overcome them. Now they stand before us, strong in their love and steadfast in their commitment. So in this sacred government, Eric and Stephanie now come to be joined. If anyone could show cause as to why they should not be married, speak now or forever hold your piece.
Before Eric and Stephanie exchange their vows to each other, they've asked to say a few words.
Eric:
Stephanie, I feel like a man who is starting his life all over again today. Not that it wasn't wonderful the first time, it was. We raised four wonderful children and we built a home that has everything a wonderful home should have. And we lived and we thrived and we loved. We never should have parted. But we're human, and we made mistakes and we're going to correct that one here today. Never in my life have I looked so forward to my future than I do today because you are my future, my love, my entire future.
Stephanie:
Eric, I have always loved you. And I have always believed in you. I have always believed in us. And I am so deeply grateful. I feel so blessed that you are in my life again. That you have chosen me again, as I have chosen you. It is a beautiful day to share with our children and our friends and loved ones the power of our love.
Minister:
We'll read from the Apostle Paul, One Corinthian's, Chapter Thirteen. If I speak with the tongue of men and angels, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries, all knowledge...and have faith that can move mountains, and have not loved, I have nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but I have not loved, I gain nothing. Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude. It is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails, and where there is...(Then the minister pauses, looking down at the bible)
Eric:
Reverend? What is it? Is there a problem?
Minister:
I need to talk to you. To you - to both of you. In private. (The three of them walk into the study where the minister gives Eric a photo of him (Eric) and Lauren in bed that he had found in the bible. Eric has to confess to Stephanie about the night he slept with Lauren and Stephanie calls off the wedding).
